Grand Guignol

By PickleTheHutt, in Arkham Horror: The Card Game

The location card "Grand Guignol" in A Phantom of Truth doesn't have the usual keyhole icon on its unrevealed side. Is there a reason for this or is it something that should be listed in card errata in the FAQ?

I couldn't find any posts or comments about it but it seems highly unlikely that only my copy is missing that symbol.

Good catch! It has a title (Theatre of the Great Puppet) instead. Weird.

I finally found a general post about missing keyhole icons. Apparently, any location with a subtitle does not have the keyhole. It seems this is an intentional design choice as the two occupy the same place on the card. I think it's a poor decision (the icon could just be shifted over a bit) but revealed vs unrevealed side should still be clear as that's determined by the presence of shroud and clue values.

It was the same for both versions of Faculty Office in Extra Curricular Activities (Dunwich box). If a location has a subtitle, it covers the keyhole symbol.

Upon searching arkhamdb.com , a list of other cards missing keyholes with their overwriting title.

  • AHC08 - Lost in Time and Space:
    • Another Dimension - Unfettered by Reality
  • ACH13 - The Unspeakable Oath:
    • Asylum Halls - Western Patient Wing (x2)
    • Asylum Halls - Eastern Patient Wing (x2)
  • ACH23 - The City of Archives:
    • Halls of Pnakotus - Northern Corridors
  • ACH25 - Shattered Aoens
    • Nexus of N'Kai - Unraveling the Threads
  • ACH28 - Return to the Night of the Zealot:
    • Study - Aberrant Gateway

Perhaps I could add an FAQ on arkhamdb to non-keyhole locations just explaining that the subtitle takes the place of the keyhole and one should use shroud/clues as a guide to revealed/unrevealed side? Maybe?

Sounds good.
