Subtypes and Awakenings Block Cards

By Atomisk, in Star Wars: Destiny

First Order Stormtrooper got a reprint in Convergence, but it's more than just a reprint: It came with some cool new art, flavor text, but most importantly a sub-type was subtly added! Until legacies subtypes didn't even exist and it wasn't till Way of the Force that they even mattered(looking at you Gungans). But it looks like New Mace, New Phasma, and Greivous all care about subtypes now, so with subtypes nattering and FOST getting the subtype treatment, I have to ask: Should cards from awakenings block be updated for subtypes? Was the intent that FOST was always meant to be a trooper? If so, there should be a ton of characters who could use the errata. Luke Skywalker, Jedi Knight for instance should be a Jedi character no matter how playable he actually is! If that kind of thing wasn't the intent, I guess why add the text rather than make a new card?

Now, I will agree my point is somewhat moot, since it's all rotating and standard is the premier format that FFG will care about, but if they intend to have GQs be 1 Infinite, 1 Triology, and 1 Standard event then they should care about these kinds of quality of life updates for Awakening block characters!

I care about Infinite... Infinite never rotates. I would like my awakenings stuff to be updated to make Infinite just as fun as my trilogy and my standard formats

I totally agree with you. Even with the actual Standard, you can't use the Super Battle Droid power action on IG-88, or Anakin's ability on K-2SO; two droid characters witch are pretty useless in the actual meta... Minor adjustments on old character points and ability wording could renew the entire gaming experience by adding surprising new character-matching possibility. I tried to communicate with FFG on the ruling forum, but they never cared to reply. As a cu$tomer, I find it very insulting...

I won't be buying reprints. They did the same thing with x-wing 2.0, and we just stop playing the game...

I don't believe this game will survive the rotation.

I definitely think it will survive rotation, the removal of barriers to entry and refreshing the meta has been proven in several other card games to be effective and I think it will be so here in Destiny. I just would like FFG to take Infinite seriously, in a way that other games don't take their eternal formats(looking at Magic) for instance.

I intend to do a post(probably as a seperate thing) with buffs for Awakening Block characters and reasons why, but might as well add subtypes while I'm at it.
