Stealth attack and cloaking device

By Txousman, in X-Wing Rules Questions

With the arrival of mining guild ties a friend of mine thought of this: (Labelling questions A, B, C)

A-.) Will Overseer Yushyn switch the disarm token from a cloaking ship to a stress token ?

His theory is the following:

1-. Ship A cloaks. It gets a cloak token

2-. As it is cloaked, it is disarmed, it gets a disarm token

3-. Yushyn changes that disarm token for a stress token

4-. Pew pew pew, rolling +2 def dice.

B-.) If a ship rolls an eye during the planning phase and it fails to decloak (e.g. it tries the roll next to an asteroid) It still will discard the cloak token, right?

C-.) If ship #1 cloaks and C.Vizago switches the cloaking device to ship #2, Does ship #1 still have to roll the attack die at the start of the Planning Phase?

Thanks in advance for your help, guys.

A. When a ship cloaks, it does not gain a disarm token, so there is nothing Yushyn to replace. It is disarmed while cloaked which means it cannot perform attacks, but there is no actual disarm token on the ship.

B. No, it does not discard the cloak token as it failed to decloak. See FFG's offical ruling thread here .

C. It does not roll the attack die at the start of the planning phase since the Cloaking Device is no longer equipped to that ship and its abilities are no longer in play on that ship.

Fixed the timing on C.

Having a Cloak token applies the disarmed effect on top of the +2 Agility and a disarm token isn't added. So Yushyn does not have a disarm token to affect on a cloaked ship. IF the Cloak rules stated that it had a disarmed token added instead of stating that the ship is disarmed while is has a cloak token, then Yushun would be able to switch the disarm token out for a stress token.

Die roll for the check for the cloaking device are at the start of the Planning phase now. :) Says on the card.

Yep, was thinking of first edition timing.

Been there, done that. Honestly the new timing on that check just sank in for me last week... :)

Yeah, I think the way to view things as a Cloak token applying an alternate path to the "disarmed" status, rather than the only a disarmed token.
