Bringing a Legend to the Game
I mean, he's the hero of my SWCCG deck.

Do you still play?
I just sold a bunch of my stuff. It was nostalgic to go thru it all again, and I wish FFG would tap some of the lore.
Just for fun, I thought of this:

Is there any sort of market for this stuff? I mean, I have boxes of it because I assume it's not worth trying to even sell.

Basically only the rares and hard-to-find stuff. The last 2-3 expansions (The Phantom Menace} had small print runs, so they are the most valuable.
I also had a lot of complete sets that I sold. All told, I was able to juice $1500 out of my collection (but with pounds of chaff to spare}.
Start here:
Yes, I still play! Actually, I'm not old enough to have played back in the day. My brother and I play with each other a fair bit (my sole deck is LS Cloud City). You can also play online at https://gemp.starwarsccg.org/gemp-swccg/
LagJanson, there's definitely a market for it and multiple websites that sell it. The Players' Committee Darth Meanie linked actually has some of the cheapest prices, possibly to promote the game; you could look at another website if you wanted to profit more from what you have. Like he said, your bulk commons and uncommons won't be worth much, but your rares, especially from certain sets, may be. Main characters are generally worth something. The Death Star II versions of Luke and the Emperor are super valuable. The Coruscant set also is very expensive.
What decks did you guys play back in the day?
Edit: That's a nice use of the Decipher lore and FFG mechanics, Darth Meanie.

That's pretty cool to know!!

Well, the TMI version is this:
My friends liked to play round-robin games where multiple people played in the same game. This was pretty easy to do with Magic, and a lot harder with SW:CCG. We also hated the deck-as-life mechanic and felt like once you started losing is was a pretty fast death spiral. We also hated that Mains-and-Toys (read: rares only} was such a prominent feature, and wished that lowly Stormtrooper commons (like commons in Magic} could actually be worth something. So, I created a pretty majorly bastardized version of the game we enjoyed that was basically nothing like Decipher intended. Also, playing in the late '90s competed heavily with MtG, the Middle Earth: The Wizards CCG and GURPS roleplaying.
By 2000, I was pretty burnt out on collectible games, and when Decipher and ICE went belly up, then MtG changed to the Stack and dropped Interrupts, etc. I swore off Collectible Games.
Did pretty well for 13 years, then this SOB of a game came along. (
}
Still, some of the battle scars show when someone tells me I can DIY XWM to be the game I want. Because internally, I think, I had to do that with Decipher; I do not want to do it again with FFG.
Ultimately, I can't even remember how we played SW:CCG, but we had 4 players at once. I'm sure our decks reflected nothing of the meta, and I for a fact know that that word meant nothing to me back then. Looking thru the cards, however, reminds me just how much that game added to the lore, how silly the designers were with the cards and names (in SW kitch and fun}, and how much of my Star Wars Trivial Pursuit minutia actually came from reading the flavor text on those cards.
And it makes me wish that FFG would loosen up a little with this game and just make some stuff that's just silly *** fun.
Edited by Darth MeanieNice. Multiplayer would have been sweet, and the inefficiency of commons/generics is irksome. Decipher did well with their succeeding LotR TCG, which was multiplayer-friendly and had useful commons (you can play that one on Gemp LotR!).
It would be neat to sit down and play your four-player variant with you, were that possible. Also, yeah, the Cloud City set lore gets me every time.

I had an Imperial ISB Operations deck I remember liking a bit.

I played that one many a game night with friends at the game store. Ring-bound Rangers and Uruk Archers all the way!

Really? That was always one thing I really liked about the game. Having to balance your card draw against your need for Force to cycle was a really interesting resource problem. Used Interrupts were often very important in replenishing your Force pile late in the game.

I played around a bit when the game was new. Just random stuff thrown together. First game was a disappointment since my opponent and I never were on the same planet even and just drained the decks. I don't recall who won but I do recall the two of us looking at each other afterward and sharing our unhappiness. Not sure I actually played too much after, though I heard the rules got cleaned up.
Mostly it was before I realized I had a CCG addiction issue, so I just went out and bought cards simply because I wanted specific singles. Collected all of Red and Gold squadron pilots and ships type thing. Traded online for rares I couldn't get.
As to sell off - don't need to maximize profit. A little bit to re-invest into games I actually use is nice, type thing. I probably need to actually catalogue my collection or find some place in person to just eyeball it.

Yeah, I think like @LagJanson we just really didn't understand the game well enough. We had 8 or 9 players for Magic and only 4 for SW:CCG and 4 others for ME:TW. I also really liked ME:TW better (it felt more like a storytelling game; one player won by unmaking The One Ring, and that just seemed awesome}, so SW:CCG was a the bottom of the heap. It was 2 player only, and just felt like a tricked out version of War. I collected SW:CCG like crazy because it was Star Wars.
Also, I would say my feelings about ME:TW and SW:CCG are a pretty good reflection of what I want XWM to be vs. what it is.

Star Wars has a pretty horrific history for gaming conversions... I rediscovered my pocket models recently as well, which I think I played one day, and bought a bunch of stuff for.
Seriously though, FFG please bring the Starspeeder 3000 to X-wing. It has some pickup and go, along with laser cannons.
Include a RX-Series Droid or two with a smart *** card. It would sell like hotcakes to us fan boys of the ride. AND IT IS CANNON.
With a passenger load of 40 or so this maybe need to be a large base ship.

How many Crew slots and how many Gunners?

Well from the ride the RX-series Droid was the pilot and gunner. We could probably add a few more. C-3PO was his co-pilot with R2D2 on Droid duty. Maybe gunners x10 and crew x10 remaining 20 or so passengers as 'cargo' upgrades.

Ah, I remember now. So we'll need an astromech slot, too.

No gunners. The StarSpeeder will feature specialty crew all its own:
Thinking of the CCG had me looking through the cards again. I can't believe I never noticed this before, but
why is Dash an Alien?

Alien was their equivalent of Scum & Villainy. Even BoShek in the first set was one. (Not that it isn't weird.)
