almost bought 1 today at my local shop but the paint jobs are simply horrendous, blurred edges and offset stencils etc.. are they mechanically fun enough to justify repainting?
anyone played their scum ties enough to have opinions?
It sounds like you might have had some bad luck with your paint job, mine are pretty pristine. It does sound like there might be something of a mixed bag out there though.
Mechanically, the TIEs do some interesting things. They're solid additions to a Drea swarm, and work well alongside Quadjumpers if you're wanting to make the most of the obstacles. In my local group, the Mining Guild Surveyor with Trick Shot seems to be the popular option - I've not seen much of the named pilots as yet.
I know a guy who's running a bit of a Trick Shot mini-swarm alongside the Falcon, but I think it's probably a bit gimmicky.
I've bought one and I think that's probably all I'll ever need - I've a feeling it's just going to turn out to be a good 'filler' ship - but we'll know more in January when we see if the Quadjumper gets priced out of the TIE's cost bracket.
Cpt. Seevor is crazy good in low Ini toolbox semi-swarm lists. Like budget Palob/Teroch. I suspect him being played in Extended format. In Hyperspace he doesn't have many options to play with (as best Scum Hyperspace pieces are high Ini)

Swarm Tactics is what would bring him into Hyperspace, I think... if you can sacrifice the space to play it.
But I think we need to see what Hyperspace settles into because Seevor is also definitely better in a low ship count metagame where his Jam token can do most damage. If it's TIE Swarms up the wazoo I don't see him thriving, but if it becomes a Luke/Han format then Seevor can achieve a lot.
I'm expecting only to get one. If I feel I need more I'll borrow.

Of course with Swam Tactics he's better, but even without he shines, especially with Juke (32 pts).
- he's hard to kill 1 vs 1 (enemy is shooting most of the time without mods against 3 greens with evade)
- other ships (with lower or the same Ini) can benefit from his ability (makes target tokensless)
- he's kinda natural counter to Omega Leader as long Omega is shooting at him, or he can shoot at Omega.
He's good for the points.

there are 20 or so at local shops thst i was poking through, all with awful paint. its a manufacturing issue in 2.0 with some sculps, like the firesprsy windshields etc. Glad yours came out nice though
