Any viable 2xLamda + 2xReaper builds?

By Synel, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hi!

I started by looking for a four-ship Imperial build, then something made me think about trying out a Lambda and Reaper together. Then, I wondered, “Well, that’s a lot of health to get through already, and not too expensive... so why not two of each?”

This list is 36 hit points total, and I fully acknowledge that maneuverability and agility are low. But all are 3 red forward (2 red rear on Lambdas)

So, I’m curious and looking to crowd-source-build the list from here. What additional upgrades do you think would help, or are there better pilots that would fit? Goal is to see if this ship-set could be threatening enough with a semi-competitive spirit, however it can be done.

Captain Kagi (48)

Lieutenant Sai (47) total: (53)

- ST-321 (6)

Major Vermeil (49)

Scariff Base Pilot (41) total: (44)

- ISB Slicer (3)

Total: 194

2 Shuttles and 2 Reapers is an interesting force.

You could just go 4 reapers, for that matter - they turn corners a darn sight better....

  • If you want a lambda to support a big ship squad, I think you made the right choice starting with Sai. With ST-321 he can parlay a co-ordinate action into a focus on the target, and a focus/target lock on himself. Three actions for one in a game where bonus actions are exceedingly rare is amazing value.
  • I'm not sure you need Kagi. Initiative 4 isn't enough to want to buy by itself, and he's not that much tougher than a reaper, and you're paying 5 points for him
  • If you're taking two ships which don't turn all that well (Reapers) and two which can't turn for toffee (Lambdas) then some means to limit your opponent's manoeuvrability isn't a bad idea - since one of the Lambda's advantages over the reaper is the cannon slot, a pair of ion cannons isn't a bad call.
  • Whilst it's a waste with the Reapers (he gives you a free boost but then switches off your ailerons for no net gain), Jerjerrod does let the shuttles do a white 'turn' (boost & blue bank then action)

  • Lieutenant Sai - 47
    • ST-321 - 6
    • Ion Cannon - 5
  • Omicron Group Pilot - 43
    • Ion Cannon - 5
    • Moff Jerjerrod - 12
  • Scarif Base Pilot - 41
  • Scarif Base Pilot - 41

Thanks, Magnus! I like the ion cannon/immobilization aspect. That makes sense, bringing the other squad to a level playing field.
