I played against DashZ (pretty sure I’m not getting handles mixed up) in the second round of Unplugged... he effectively hid a Scout with a detonator in the terrain and I just couldn’t handle the mines.

I had absolutely no idea terrain went missing or that there were allegations of cheating. :( I think the only time I didn’t use movement templates was when for a second movement action where the leader was within an inch of a barricade / corner after their first movement, so I just sidled up to the destination and popped folks into cohesion.

My BIL was playing as well and I don’t think he ran into this either. What a bummer.

The biggest negative for me was the tourney starting at 4:30 and the actual attendance compared to the registration numbers. Other than that, the games were all fun.

Yeah, 4:30 is pretty darn late to start a tourney.

I think moving without a template is fine if you agree with your opponent on a given situation and you are going like an inch. In the referenced instance though, the moves were of very questionable distance (like clearly beyond where the template would extend) and combined with all of the other things really did not give the appearance of a player repeatedly making the same honest mistakes.

Yeah, that’s... not good. The only time I go template-less move is when I’m moving a small unit over clear terrain to a point that’s shorter than one side of the speed 1 template, and when that move will have me by cover. If it’s gonna move me into base contact, into difficult terrain, etc., the template always comes out. I’ll use it when asked regardless, of course, and I normally ask someone to confirm they’re okay with me not measuring. It just seems expedient to not measure distance when I’m one small mini base length away from where I wanna go. Templates always get used with vehicles.

Your situation seems really lousy 😕. I checked with my BIL and he didn’t match up with anyone playing like that. Then again he and I got paired up in round one so... 😛.
