The shortest path to balance in the formats

I mean, I'd like Scum to get multiple talents that promoted certain types of so we could also have thematic Black Sun, Pirate, Hutt Cartel, and Bounty Hunter talents though I guess Lone wolf works well for bounty hunters.

feelslike scum needs some more ilicits at least. Dark Sun tech stuff that does cool but situational stuff so its not OP. Outlaw Tech from 1.0 is a good example. Its actually kinda intersting and i used it on a contracted scout to get free focus for ordnance.

I'm unsure that the inclusion of effectively unheard of EU ships/characters for the game such as the YT-2400(Dash), the E-wing, and the TIE Phantom are needed. This feels like you are lashing out at your favorite ships from the previous edition being removed.

Dash being called out in particular makes it seem like you lack confidence to not hit obstacles when flying. I'd try scattering a set of 24 asteroids onto a board, and then tossing a dozen focus tokens onto the board from a couple feet away. Then, try to fly your ships through the obstacles to land on all of the tokens in as few moves as possible without touching any of them. That's what my friends suggested to me when I started a couple months ago, and it turned out great! I haven't hit a rock by mistake for 6 games now.

However, hyperspace is lacking, particularly in movie ships. I would expect hyperspace to need to add the following ships ASAP, if they want to maintain some sort of iconic ship presence.

Rebels should have the A-Wing, B-Wing, U-Wing, X-Wing, Y-Wing, and the Millennium Falcon

Empire should have the TIE Fighter, Advanced, Interceptor, Bomber, Striker, Reaper, and Lambda.

As Scum has lessened screentime, they can add ships freely to fit game mechanics. Scum in particular would likely benefit from a ship that is both visually distinct and has a unique playstyle like the Starviper, or a ship that wildly differs from other factions, such as the YV-666.

I'm not "lashing out" or trying to cover up my lack of ability to hit rocks, LOL. I would include Dash for the same reason you want to include ships on your list. I've always liked the look of the YT-2400, it has appeared now in Star Wars Rebels, and Dash is the iconic pilot for this ship. His ability is unique and he's been a mainstay in the game since his release. I actually hardly ever play Dash, even in 1.0. I just think he's part of the game.

YT-2400 is also in ANH. At least it has been since the '97 remaster. Check out the outdoor scenes in Mos Eisley, there should be one taking off in the background of one of the shots. A civilian Gozanti is also there iirc, noticeable while the Falcon leaves Mos Eisley.

I mean, from a strict "balance" perspective, all the factions really need to support various playstyles are (in my opinion of course)

- A cheap, swarmable, killable thing with 2-attack and limited upgrades
- A 3-attack thing of intermediate maneuverability/defense with maybe a couple specialized upgrades
- An advanced fighter that represents a significant investment in the squad (win condition usually involves this piece surviving)
- A tank of some sort (1 agility, good offense, doesn't need ordnance)
- A specialist (has lots of ordnance slots and other specialty slots such as device, gunner, crew, astromech, sensor)
- A flanker (a cheap ship with heavy reposition that can be used in mixed swarms to build large nets)
- A support ship of some sort
- Something that doesn't have just front arcs (can shoot out of other quadrants and move in a different direction, but pays more for that privilege)
- Some control elements (cannon and device slots)
- At least one i5, reposition heavy ace
- An i6 element that has some amount of reposition and largely serves as control via information denial to i5s
- A mixture of base sizes

Many of these elements can be covered with multiple ships. For example, most of the TIE Advanced pilots are the second of those items, but Darth Vader is both the third and last items. From this list, and my own bias towards ships that are currently canon (especially those from movies), I created my own suggestions for a Hyperspace that I think could be more balanced (in the spoiler at the end of my post). But TLDR, I think the point I'm getting at here is that although more ships are fun for theme, we actually don't need that many ships for balance since upgrades and different pilots actually allow just a few ships to fill all the roles one can really think of for the game.

Imperial:
TIE Fighter
TIE Advanced
Lambda Shuttle
TIE Bomber
TIE Interceptor*
TIE Brute (medium base tank with rotate between front/rear arc)

Rebel:
A-Wing
X-Wing
Y-Wing
B-Wing
U-Wing
YT-1300

Scum:
Firespray-31
Z-95 Headhunter
Fang Fighter
Aggressor
YT-1300
Escape Craft

Resistance:
A-Wing
X-Wing
YT-1300
Starfortress
U-55 Orbital Loadlifter (has coordinate)
T-85 X-Wing (only here to even out ship count, not necessary)

First Order:
TIE/FO
TIE/SF
Upsilon
TIE Silencer
TIE Bomber
TIE Interceptor

Separatist:
Vulture Droid
Hyena Droid Bomber
Magnaguard Fighter
Bellubab Fighter
Sith Interceptor
Firespray-31 (Jango Fett i6?)

Republic:
V-19 Torrent
ARC-170
Aethersprite**
CSS-1 Corellian Star Shuttle (medium base, coordinate)
Y-Wing

*Perhaps without Soontir Fel, with Cienna Ree as a high-reposition i5. Alternately, until the repack, TIE Strikers fill this role

**Counted this as two ships, since it has configurations to fill both an A-Wing and an X-Wing role

While not as nimble, the Firespray fills both the tank role (although with 2 agility) and advanced fighter role. The Aggressor also isn't Canon anymore. :(

But everyone knows Special Edition doesn't really count.

Awe what? I thought all of Vader's Hunters from ESB, along with their ships, were still canon. That's kinda lame. Hopefully it'll be one of those things that just kinda pops up in the background of a comic or something ancillary to the movies, to get this ship re-canonized.

Disney doing a purge is an understandable move since things in the expanded universe ranged from more-epic-than-some-of-the-movies to worse-than-anything-Jar-Jar-ever-did. Not to mention, trying to keep track of it all was basically a full time job. It's still a little annoying to have all my non-movie related Star Wars knowledge gain a big silly asterisk that I still forget exists from time to time, but it's bound to happen when a franchise runs as long as this one has. Maybe in another 3-4 decades, Disney will push the reset button once more, and do an actual reboot of the series, like we see so often in comic books and whatnot.

I don't care what anyone says, my Return of the Jedi will always end with Yub Nub!

The hunters themselves are, some of their ships aren't. Hound's Tooth, Slave 1 and the Mist Hunter are ( Mist Hunter appeared in a Canon comic series involving Han apparently, the class name hasn't been re-canonized yet it appears). Aggressors and Jumpmasters are still not Canon.

Yeah, I guess I was just filling out ships to make each faction have 6 in my example, and I think Aggressors are cool. Scum doesn't really have a lot of canon ships anyway...
