Cloaking Device

By Croste, in X-Wing Rules Questions

If I have Cloaking device on an IG 2000 and at the beginning of the Planning Phase I roll a Focus but fail to decloak., can I launch a device with trajectory simulator?

Yes. You have not decloaked this round.

... I wonder if that's why they changed the timing on Cloaking Device.

You'd actually be able to drop or launch a device even if you've been forced to decloak during the Planning Phase because the rules state:

Each ship cannot drop or launch a device during the same phase that it decloaked.

The Planning Phase and System Phase are 2 different phases.

Trick question! :D

Cloaking Device has timing during Planning Phase, but "normal decloak" and drop/launch device is during the System Phase.

So there is no conflict here.

ouch, never realised that. When I saw someone run Emon (firespray) with cloaking device I immediatly tough he was going for something like that, but then he told me it was impossible because you couldn't decloak and drop/launch. Turns out he actually could do it, that's pretty strong.

Well, if you want to decloak voluntarily, it's in the system phase, so a bit of a corner case really.

So many options.....

Thanks everyone.
