My Experience buying a second-hand deck at my FLGS

By Whiz Canmaj, in KeyForge

Earlier today, I strolled into my FLGS and saw that the store had a collection of Keyforge decks for sale out of their cardboard booster boxes. The seal hadn't been broken, but they were available for me to look at and purchase. One of my favourite thing to do with collectible games (card or miniature) is to search through the inventory and find good stuff. And I managed to find something good.

None of the decks were amazingly awesome. They had obviously been sorted into a 'chaff' bin, given how most of them had only 2-3 rares in them. Fortunately, they did sell for slightly cheaper than the blind-buy boosters, and I got to see some House combos I really wanted to get (2 "Shadow Self" Shadow + Sanctum healing/armour). They also covered up the code on the deck, and the original owner hadn't registered the deck beforehand, so I got an AEmber out of it. For my purchase, I got really lucky: one of the decks had a Maverick card in them! I think it was overlooked because the red band on the sealed deck went right over the Maverick card's listing, and because the Maverick symbol was on the right side, it must not have been noticed.

Has anyone else purchased Sealed or Opened second-hand Keyforge decks at their FLGS?

Nice deal you got there! Lol at people who think the number of rares is an indicator of power, though, most of the power cards in the game are uncommon or even common (library access, bait and switch, key charge...). Rares really are the flavouring of the deck more than anything. If that is the metric people judge decks by in your area, there might be some real killers in there they missed!

We bought some for variety at our FLGS. One of the employees had bought two displays and sold back the ones with no value to him. They're fine for casual play, but I'd much have rather had a couple of blind decks from those displays, as our store has literally sold out the first day every time more stock arrived. I had to go online to buy mine.
