Best Imperial token fighter force

By Herr Style, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

If I was picking a very small (30-35 points tops) fighter force for an Ozzel list with BTA, Demo, two raiders and a Gozanti, which would be my best choice?

Ciena Rae and Valen Rudor, 4 TIE’s or maybe even something else (or even another Gozanti with Kallus ??? )

Thanks in advance.

Depends on what you’re trying to do. Ciena/Valen is a classic, as you mentioned. Are the Raiders kitted out for flak? Is Demo? Mauler is a good way to get suicidal auto-damage early if you’re prepared for your ships to contribute.

It’s a GSD 1 with Apt ‘s, and the raiders have OE and Ex Racks. I just want something to keep enemy fighters at bay for about a turn or two, or even hold some in place while the raiders off load into them.

Ciena/Valen is my Favorite.

I agree with this, however currently I may consider going Ciena/Whisper (or Ciena/Defender) if points allow due to Mithel and Dutch (i.e. autodamage that can kill Ciena fast)

Interesting.

However, how Whisper or the Defender helps over Rudor?

I mean, I see both hitting Mithel better than Rudor but not duch, and don't see how they contribute do Ciena's durability (what you pointed out) either at a more expensive cost.

Honestly curious. What is the reasoning behind?

Whisper has better repositioning abilities and more health. Defender has health and can be potentially utilized for mini-alpha strike. Also both of these are better bombers.

Another Ciena killer are Howlrunner and Flight Controllers. With that all of a sudden her ability isn't so powerful. I am still learning squads though, I find they are much more difficult to use correctly then ships.

I think, if you are first player, the best way to use them is to last/first and try and take out 2-3 squads if your lucky. Then hopefully they can take up a round of fighting from up to 4-5 more squads before they die. If they have Flight Controllers/Howlrunner you will die even quicker. You are really just trying to get a turn of relief out of them which you have to make the most of to neuter your opponents fleet.

The Ciena/Whisper combo looks good, but that cuts too much into my bid (with Ciena/Valen I'm at 390). The Ciena/defender combo is interesting ad I'd never considered that before. Would as well Soontir and a TIE advanced became good option too?

Not as much, because if the opponent can reposition he would be able to engage Soontir without engaging TIE/Adv

Gotcha!

It’s also worth noting that Slicer Tools can be a good antisquad investment that’s effective against squadronless fleets too.

Yea I would do this or add slicers to the current gozanti and just add ciena and maybe suppressor

A screen that got used against me that worked quite well was:

Mauler Mithel, Tempest, TIE Adv. and a Jumpmaster.

I like howl, mauler, 3 tie fighter, jump.

67 points ISD I can fling am all...

Just focus down the double dice bombers

Ciena Lambda. Give yourself objective flexibility

one of the ones that I have used before would be Howlrunner and saber squad. 5 blue die snipe. I had a good time with that one
