Iden Versio and her ability.

By Nemtk, in Star Wars: Destiny

How extensive is Idens ability? I have heard of two schools of thought.

1.) Her dice being in the pool prevent any card labeled Ambush or Additional Action.

2.) Her dice being in the pool prevent ANY additional actions. (Refer to the original list of actions from the first starter set)

  • Play a card from your hand.
  • Activate a character or support.
  • Resolve your dice.
  • Discard a card to reroll your dice.
  • Use a card action.
  • Claim the battlefield ( note , you may not act after doing this)

This would include character cards like Maz Kanata. She activates then resolves dice. Activation is one action and resolving dice is another action. FN 2199 allows you to play an upgrade (card) and resolve the die if you choose (resolving dice is considered an additional action)

To me, understanding clearly the distinction in how far her ability prevents people from taking additional actions is the difference between her being a solid character and a very solid character. What are your thoughts? Does anyone know if Fantasy Flight has said anything about how extensive her ability is?

Okay, so what her ability does, is prevent additional actions or ambush keywords. Maz's ability is a character ability and is resolved as part of her 'activate a character or support' action. Therefore it's not prevented with Iden. Tactical mastery is a worthless card if Iden's dice are in the pool, but quick draw still works, because it is part of the card effect, not an additional action. I do see your point, but understanding which are additional actions and which are card abilities/effects are fairly easy to identify in the game. If the effect or ability says 'additional action(s)' or has the 'ambush' keyword, these are prevented. Any other wording besides these specifically, gets around her ability. Hope that helps!

Just to clarify, Iden does NOT prevent Ambush or any card that says "additional actions." So like Han1 would still get his shields. Rey1 still gives 2 extra actions if you play Vibroknife on her. If you play Swiftness on a card, that card still gains "Ambush". The player just cannot TAKE the additional "actions" afterwards.
