Bothan spotted!?

By bsmith23, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion RPG

Last week's episode of Resistance had a Bothan merchant. Or did it? With all of the speculation about their future in the game...

The Wookieepedia entry says "unidentified alien stall vendor", and that he "resembles the Legends description of a Bothan ".

Bothans can be spotted or striped or can have solid coats.

My PC's keep spotting Bothans wherever they go.

Once you notice a Bothan, or more appropriately, once the Bothan's notice you they just seem to appear everywhere . . .

*puts on tinfoil hat*

I think this is the situation:

1) With Rogue One doing fairly well, LFL/Dis decided to retconn the details of Bothans out (beyond just their existence) so they could be free to make Rogue Two: The One About The Bothans and have Bothans be whatever the director wanted them to be (I'm betting on WEG era "furry elves" over Joe Camels, but that's just me).

2) Like the EU, New Bothans will still be heavily concerned with spying, because since that's all we know about them that's all they are capable of doing and it defines every part of their culture, biology, and mating rituals.

3a) As such Bothans will intentionally, as a culture and species, try and keep a low profile on the galactic stage. Part of this will be that, at some point probably early on in their Galactic level history, the Bothans altered galactic level records, replacing all images of Bothans with pictures of the Camel-people (probably a different species from a nearby system), thus ensuring that no one would be 100% sure of they were even seeing a Bothan, or just something that other people said was a Bothan.

3b) The Camel-people will actually be from the planet Bawthuwai, with Bothans being from the planet Both (pronounced "baw-th").

Just dont get too attached to one you spot, they have a very RMMR (random mishap mortality rate).

Racial: You may suffer a critical wound to upgrade and allies next social by the seriousness/difficulty of the critical wound.

the race that was Bothans , has shown up in media before and wil l likely again, what a Bothan is now, we have no idea, Until they specify what, or who the Bothans are (Race / Family / Tribe / Job etc) .What looks like the non canon version of Bothans is technically now an unknown race.

We don't even know for certain that Bothans are species. They may well be a planetary nation. Which could include the furry camel species, the hairy elves, and whatever else they come up with.

The Race Formerly Known as Bothans? 😉

For all we know in canon, Mon Mothma may have been referring to a Rebel spy named Manny Bothans who stole the information about the Death Star II.

If Tag and Bink hadn’t ended up on the cutting room floor for Solo , it would be fun watching people lose their minds as others started making a case for Manny being canon. 🤣
