Way of the Willow

By Franwax, in Rules Questions

Hi,

I've been wondering... the enhancement effect reduces incoming damage by 2 per kept die containing an [explosive success] symbol... but I am not sure on which check. Is it on the Kiho activation check (thus at the activator's discretion) or on the attack roll (then, you basically dis-incentivize the attacker to keep exploding successes, but they can chose not to keep them and avoid the reduced damage)? I am reading and re-reading the description but I cannot make up my mind...

I read that to be the attacker's kept dice.

Thanks, I think I’ll go with that until proven otherwise.

I'd agree. The last 'check' mentioned before talking about kept dice is the attackers' attack action check.

Equally, if the other way around, the kiho doesn't do anything unless you keep explosive success on your activation check, making it really hard to activate and making having an activation TN almost pointless.
