Non-Official Miniatures for Star Wars RP

By LStyer, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

While I don't intend to even approach tactical combat, I love miniatures. Of course I've seen and love the various Imperial Assault and Legion minis produced by FFG, but I'm curious what Unofficial minis people have found out there that can serve, with little or no modification beyond painting, as Star Wars characters. I'll start with a few I've thrown together on Herolab, but haven't yet printed.

Here is a Bothan, presented in a non-combat situation.

Here is a Trandoshan Jedi, at least preparing for combat.

This Human Noble has a Blaster Pistol on his hip, but words are his true weapons.

But that blaster rifle with vibro-bayonet? That is this Human's true weapon.

Anybody else have any HeroForge builds to share, or even just minis you've seen out there somewhere?

One more , a Human Dark Jedi:

Those are cool, @LStyer . I've played around on that HeroForge website before but haven't actually gotten any made. The GM for the game that I play in got some made for all of the players, he even personally painted them too.

My Star Wars gaming is all online/conference call. When a few of my friends move, we'll be able to do it in person, but for now it's completely over the phone and internet and all Theater of the Mind. I bought a bunch of I guess they're WotC minis that I found online for a dollar or two each. Miniatureswarehouse or something like that? I got them for when we can actually play in person, or to set up scenes and send picture messages if I need to show the players what's going on in order for them to have a firm grasp of it.

That’s a pretty cool idea for Skype gaming that I’d not heard before.

I'll see if I can get some today.

It won't let me upload the pic. I'll see if I can figure something out after I get home later.

I use the 3D Virtual Tabletop app which lets me create maps and tokens from images that I can use to give my players a quick look at the environment and positions. HSniPJk.png

Are there fires that need put out in your Edge game? If so, these cat people may be able to help. From what I understand Togorians and Cathar don’t have tails, and all these minis do, but if that’s a problem, it’d be pretty simple to snip them.

First up is Ur’Zarl, the black marketeer, from Bombshell Miniatures , and if that doesn’t scream “Edge of the Empire,” I don’t know what does.

I’ve not ordered any of this particular species from Bombshell, but I’ve ordered other minis from them and been very satisfied with the quality.

Also from that line is Lancers Captain . I don’t know how one could resist cat-person with two pistols and an eye patch chomping a cigar.

Finally, the Lancer Clipper packs a badass rifle. Also, she’s reasonably dressed, which honestly can be a bit of a problem when it comes to female minis from Bombshell.

There are also two “grunt” figures in space suits, but because they don’t have the same level of individual character as these three I didn’t copy their images or post specific links, but you can find them on the “ species page .”

Speaking of Bombshell, this guy could pass as an Arcona , though I honestly might have to carve off the hat.

With a vibroblade and a pistol, this Human is ready for combat.

Added another mini.

For this system, I recommend using 3.75" action figures for miniatures. There's a wide selection available and scale doesn't matter much with EOTE's abstract range bands.

That’s not a bad idea, but they take up more physical space than miniatures, which is important to me. Also, I already have a ton of useable minis, so to switch to 3 and 3/4 would mean almost starting over.

THIS

LOOKS

AMAZING!

I run my sessions on a table with an 40" LCD screen sunken into it. I really need to try these maps out on there....

I have something similar and it works great. (Note, the pictures were taken before moving it to to my house and the actual gaming area. It's nice to have a father who likes to build things)

I am not totally sure I can trust my own eyes...

It's great. I can run the standard Star Wars Crawl at the beginning of the adventure/session then jump right into maps. I have the space map that fits snugly over the TV when needing to do ship battles (combining X-Wing/Armada miniatures with the RPG rules just to give a feeling of where they are in relation to other ships)

This is me trying to angle the discussion back to miniatures. :)
As you can see, we can place miniatures right on the TV (plexiglass cover prevents scratching of screen)

I’ve got my father in law working on a similar table (between actual paying jobs), including leaves to cover the gaming surface and allow it to serve as a “regular” table. I have a very cool wife who’s fine with it becoming our new dining room table. 😁

Well, mine isn't quite as impressive as the rig @Varlie uses, but it does the job.

Note: we play outdoors, even at night, because we live in Queensland Australia, where the average temperature is 20C/70F :)

Upload it from your PC to imgur then you can copy the address from there to post. I have a lil experience uploading pics to this site.......

I considered the whole in table TV build but was kind of wondering if the angle viewing wouldn't be less than ideal in the table. I am going to use my Amazon card points and buy a new TV for the game room and just put it on a stand where people can see it. Thinking 55"+ should work.

Love my Kroot minis. If I ever play again I'm reskinning my Kroot mini with Nikto stats.

I’ve always thought Kroot minis would be perfect for Star Wars, but have never gotten as far as statting them.

I don't typically bother with new stats for original ideas, I just grab from an existing one and slap em onto the idea.
