Resistance Bombers

By redneckrampage, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So I have a mild obsession with the Resistance bombers and since the points dropped I've been trying to find lists to fit them into. So far I've come up with 2.

Point of this list is to make the Starfortress as tanky as possible. Vennie pilot ability gives you an additional Focus when you defend and the attack is in a Friendly Turret arc, which should be pretty much everybody. Tallissan gives you an extra die to roll when she bullseye a ship firing at the Star Fortress. Finn gives you an Extra Blank and Han Solo gives you an Evade Plus Additional Evades for each enemy in range 0-1 which you can use to turn those eyes and blanks resulting in possible 4 evade dice on a 13 hitpoint (shield upgrade) ship that shoots twice a turn while dropping bombs. You can strip Tallissan down and upgrade Lulu to a x70 if you wanted, but I like the new Awings.

Vennie — MG-100 StarFortress 67
Trajectory Simulator 3
Han Solo (Resistance) 6
Veteran Turret Gunner 8
Finn 10
Proton Bombs 5
Seismic Charges 3
Shield Upgrade 4
Ship Total: 106
Half Points: 53 Threshold: 7
Tallissan Lintra — RZ-2 A-Wing 35
Marksmanship 1
Proton Rockets 7
Ship Total: 43
Half Points: 22 Threshold: 2
L'ulo L'ampar — RZ-2 A-Wing 38
Marksmanship 1
Proton Rockets 7
Pattern Analyzer 5

The Second list is just because I have two and I wanted to run both of them. The problem with a lot of two ship lists is they lack the firepower to handle swarms. I hope between firing 4 times and dropping two bombs they can handle 4 ships.

Cat brings extra firepower in the form of an extra red die when shooting enemies near bombs which both can fling out in front of them with trajectory simulator, or shoot behind them as they drop them. Ben Tenne can handle out rattled condition which will help add a little damage over the course of the game.

Cat — MG-100 StarFortress 64
Trajectory Simulator 3
Paige Tico 7
Veteran Turret Gunner 8
Proton Bombs 5
Seismic Charges 3
Shield Upgrade 4
Ship Total: 94
Half Points: 47 Threshold: 7
Ben Teene — MG-100 StarFortress 68
Trajectory Simulator 3
Rey 14
Veteran Turret Gunner 8
Proton Bombs 5
Seismic Charges 3
Shield Upgrade 4
Ship Total: 105

Half Points: 53 Threshold: 7

I'm sure neither are super competitive, but I just wanted an excuse to run my favorite ships. What do you guys think?

It's worth noting that cat's ability will never trigger unless the opponent has Nym or mines right? Because all your bombs will detonate before cat has a chance to shoot.

Hmm, we must play it incorrect, we were detonating them at the end of the engagement phase not movement. I guess i need to change that load out up some.

How good has this Vennie been for you?

My suggestion would be to throw Heroic on the A-Wings to protect vs blanks, being init 5 I'm sure a bid would help them arc dodge too.

Vennie does decently if i can get stuck in and manage to line up Tass. Otherwise i get into range two, get one or two evades and then eat a bunch of damage. Kinda similar to Boba Fet if you misjudge and cant get into range 1 for rerolls or debris gambit.

If you Solo Red Evade, wouldn’t that prevent you from getting a Focus for Vennie’s ability?

Actually if you have Cat's arcs facing forward and backwards then you can fire out the front first, drop a bomb, and then shoot behind you at someone near the bomb you just placed.

Honestly I think maybe have Cat and Ben switch their gunners to better trigger Cats ability. Or maybe changing Ben to Finch or more possibilities.

First list. C3PO instead of Han works better with Vennies ability, 2 guaranteed evade (from 2 attacks) with no range restriction from the 2 calculates ( so long as you have a mobile arc from Vennie or the A's on the attacker) With the added bonus of a chance to co-ordinate one of the A's and still get a calculate. Pattern analyser on L'ulo? In theory you would have L'ulo stressed every round so she's not doing red manouvres, maybe move it to Tall or even Vennie for the stoppies. I don't see how usefull Finn is to that list, I think you would get more mileage from Paige or if you can scrounge the points from somewhere, deffinitely Rey.

Use the evade tokens to modify the evade results from the pilot ability
