Leia is easily the best Rebel Commander, I was elated when they announced Krennic and he's only 90 because that gives the Imperials 2 awesome commanders. Leia is the boss because of her price and usefulness. Killing 1-2 Stormtroopers while getting yourself killed is thematic for Han, but not practical on the table. Luke is terribly expensive for how ineffective he is and the fact that he's more of a lone wolf than a commander that helps with Panic, enhancing abilities, etc.

I have to respectfully disagree. My experience with Leia is that she is often forced into situations where she is targetted and wiped. Han consversely has Ucnanny Luck to keep him alive. Not saying Leia is bad, just that she is underpowered compared to Luke/Han.

Wookies and Chewie are in Shipping Now Status

Leia works best out of line of sight after the first round Bombardment. After that, the more activations and the more figures you have on the board usually wins games. I've found most of the commanders are actually a drag on your force. The cheaper the better. The dodge tokens help your troops last longer, the non-unique commanders may be the best of the lot if the troopers/special forces keep getting better. I think Veers is a much better buy than the Imperial generic, but Leia vs NON-Gideon may be more of a wash. (two generic bubbles for 100pts may be better than Leia by herself for 90)

Thanks for the advice. I am sure that experiences are very reliant upon luck, and I confess that I've not had a great amount of luck with her. What puts me off about her is her 1-2 shot and lack of health. Do you usually run guardian with her and if so, what's your recommended unit to play that role?

This is the fun part of talking games in my opinion. I like her because she is inexpensive and offers action economy (most Troopers want a dodge token but like to move and shoot as well due to Nimble). Less expensive = more guns on the table, more guns = more dice rolls by the enemy and more bodies to collect/contest objectives.

I honestly have always set up after the opponent has placed a few units in an area where I have line of sight, some cover and can use Coordinated Bombardment on at least 2 units, preferably 3 juicy targets.

1st turn most units are moving in and out of cover setting up shots for turn 2. I decide based on deployment if I'm going to use coordinated bombardment turn one or turn two. Leia passes out dodge as she needs to (she can pass to herself if she's going to take some shots) But usually she's hard to hit first turn (range 4 or beyond) or she's in cover with dodge. Once she does her bombardment attack she ducks out of LOS behind a building or something where she can pass dodge to someone else and herself and still use her other command cards. She really won't take a bunch of shots unless the enemy moves in really close. If the opponent is really trying to get Leia they'll usually expose themselves or leave a unit out in the open. Then my multiple units can pounce on them.

I've never used Guardian, I always run Leia with no upgrades, I've never had her die, but I think a lot of that is most people don't want to shoot at her if she's in cover and can get a dodge or if she's hiding behind a building, they forget about her. There are so many other threats in the Rebel army as well (Flamer RTs, Hot rolling troopers, Fleet troopers, now snipers and bombers, and other characters)

I've never really felt that any of my characters are invincible either. Maybe it's my style of play (maybe its my poor dice, but none of the characters last that long) I figure if Leia can bombard and pass out some suppression early and pass out some dodge and if she gets a shot I'm lucky if she gets a hit, but her roll is pure support in my world. Han dies at the same speed, but his range is just as bad and I can't really get enough damage with him to justify a 130pts. Jyn looks to be like Han, Luke is a different animal, but he needs support to stay alive as well a lot of times. This game is supposed to revolve around the characters, but usually they are the armies' weakest link.

I took 4 wounds turn 1 to boba fett the first time I played him and the rest of the game he hid in a tower and took pot-shots. Not worth the 160pts I put into him.

@buckero0

I run Leia the same way, and it works great. The problem with having a list with her and Chewie in it, you're never going to be using Chewie's card with her. It seems like the card is made to be a last ditch effort to not lose your commander, but at the range that the card is usable at I don't think that it's going to change that.

Han, in my experience, has run exceptionally well once I got in the mindset of dodging instead of aiming. I run him with duck and cover, as is mandatory with low profile units who can get shot at, and he has great staying power that way. Heavy cover with dodge is no joke even with white dice with surge which can also be re-rolled. In fact, the only way I have ever lost him is if vader or royal guards get into melee

I like to run him with Esteemed Leader and a unit of Rebel Troopers nearby as well. This may change once I have Chewie though.

Destroy all that you see. Be as a wolf among sheep. Raze the cities, slay beyond counting. Let one survive to spread fame of your terrible might.

That's is the way I run all my commanders.

Can the teamwork be updated to let Han be taken as a spec ops or something with Chewie? I really want to be able to run the 4 together.

If you want to do that with8n the current rules you would have to either play a Grand Army battle or a Team Battle.

I like your points. I think you undervalue the power of the characters, otherwise Luke and Leia would not be the current tournament winningest combo. Chewie makes it even better. Luke with force push, Leia with improvised orders and esteemed leader, Chewie with Duck and Cover, and 6 units of Z6 troopers with frags is going to be very tough to beat even for a high activation based army. Play aggro with Leia and Chewie with esteemed leader, if they move up with Luke then the opponent has to chose who he will focus and he will focus Luke if he is clever and Chewie will keep him alive for as long as you need him. Frag troopers will push enemies off objectives and Chewie and Leia will auto delete a squad/bikes/commander in one turn.

I dig what you're getting at, but I wouldn't put Duck and Cover on Chewie. Once he takes four hits, which will happen fairly quickly if he's going to be using his guardian, he can't get suppression tokens and loses the benefit of cover

Yeah, hunter would be better

I haven’t used Leia except as a proxy once (**** high af price on amazon) but for Luke I use him to cause breakthroughs with trooper support. I also run him next to the airspeeder to give my opponent a dilemma of which to target and when.

Give Leia esteemed leader and use take cover. Sure she can Still die, but much harder.

It has been widely stated that the way to deal with AT-ST's is to ignore them. I've been largely doing this with big heroes, killing all the troops, and dealing with the heroes if needed. I mean why roll a bunch of dice that are going to have no effect on a hero when I could just destroy something else instead?

Yeah, I know. I don't want to have to do that to run the 4 of them together. I'd like to be able to at 800. :)

This threw me for a loop. How is MSRP or lower a high price?

On amazon UK she was out of stock for months after release. Sold out very quickly, now she’s back at £46. Thats a high price

I would like to see both Han Jyn Erso have an operative option where you can take them with no command cards with slight cheaper cost

Have you considered buying off the US site for $12 and then shipping? That seems like it’d be cheaper.
