Lignan Lightsaber Crystal?

Link: Lignan Crystal

I have a (player's) character who wishes to refine some of the lignan ore they recently acquired into a lightsaber crystal. I was under the impression such a thing already had official stats; perhaps I was mistaken. Anyone happen to have pointers to either official or unofficial stats for the things? I could just say "corrupted crystal" and watch the player squirm as her character does it anyway, but that is a less entertaining response than it should be. So! What say you?

Barab Ingots are statted and also produce extra hot blades, but I'd go for a Corrupted Crystal instead so it has the whole "dark side" taint the metal is supposed to have.

I second Barab Ingot.

Don't take the whole blah-blah-blah-imbued with the darkside flavor text too seriously. In this system stuff like that has to really be something special to start kicking out mechanics.

and every hack writer under the sun likes to dunk their "magic item" in the darkside anyway...

Given the description, does sound like the Sapith Gem (pg200, F&D core rulebook) is a closer fit with the extra Breach rating allowing it to more quickly "burn" its way through materials as opposed to literally setting things on fire.

As for the "of the dark side," I agree with Ghostofman that you shouldn't read that much into it, especially given the source material for the crystals in the first place.

Sorry for the tangent but as I was reading this I had a question.

"Lignan crystals enabled a lightsaber blade to burn hotter and last far longer than normal lightsaber crystals."

I've never heard of a lightsaber crystal burning out or going bad. Does anyone have example of how much the crystal "lasts far longer" than other crystals?

Nothing that comes to mind in regards to other lightsaber crystals "wearing out" from overusage. Closest I can think of is Splinters of the Mind's Eye were Luke had to charge up his father's lightsaber (which is treated as being a fairly trivial matter).

Given there's been EU/Legends instances of lightsabers that still function after thousands of years, I'm gonna go with the whole "last far longer" bit about Lignan crystals being a load of bunk and just one of a great many instances why the Expanded Universe being shunted to Legends status was a good thing.

Thanks for the responses. I'll discuss it with my player next time I see her.
