I thought with 2.0 we would get scenarios to play for ops? like that other space based game.. its the one thing I like better about that "other game"..although they "WK "killed that off too...
Scenario play?

I've been playing some of the early scenarios and they still work. It's actually a bit better as the balance for all ships is there more.
I do agree that I hope they are going to do more. FFG hinted that they can do a lot with their app once they get the various next projects done. Nothing concrete. Some people expect a type of campaign.

Yeah, I had kinda expected that 2.0 would be more than a reboot for Standard. I thought the game would grow into other possibilities.
Given that everyone seems to think that Epic is over a year away, I doubt you will see anything more than ship releases for a long time.
Between re-releasing everything to 2.0 and adding the Prequels, I would be amazed if anyone at FFG is even thinking about Epic or Missions. It's been 7 months, and still not even a hint about Epic 2.0.
Edited by Darth MeanieI think it would make sense for the Epic conversion to come at the same time as a scenario release. I'm not sure there's a whole lot of life for Epic match play, so the Epic ships could find a much bigger role in campaigns and scenario play.
It would be awesome if FFG were to eventually run big cooperative scenarios as part of organized play. Having just returned from PAX Unplugged, there is a real separation between the people playing the competitive games downstairs and all the cooperative and RPG play upstairs. I think it would be awesome to be able to go to a convention like this and have someone running large cooperative missions that had prizes. Imagine like the battle of Scariff or assault on the Death Star where 5-10 groups were all playing cooperative Epic-sized missions that collectively reached a big goal.
I found the X-wing community was welcoming and everyone was great, and then the competitive play starts and a lot of that is put aside because players have to compete. I think X-wing players would welcome another alternative to meet and play together in more relaxing cooperative play. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that this could be the thing that expands X-wing 2.0 to a new audience. I know a number of players that simply don't enjoy the stress of competitive match play. So many of them are just home-brewing missions with third party apps and scenarios.
anybody that has played that "other space based game" will know that scenarios dont seem that hard to come up with and can even be kind of silly at times but it makes the game fun and different when you have to build for the scenario rather than the standard my fleet vs yours...also kind of related but has anybody dropped home made specs for epic?

If you can, put Gen Con on your "to attend" list. The Shuttle Tydirium podcast has hosted several cooperative and campaign/narrative events there the past few years, with some of them providing prizes to participants and/or winners. Heroes of the Aturi Cluster, TRON WING, Trench Runs, Mario Kart, Star Destroyer Missions, Huge Ship Battles, etc. The largest of these events was the Assault on Grayskull Base Narrative Event - 4 rounds of head to head, objective based campaign competition that pits two teams against each other to determine the fate of the story arc, while still providing a means to recognize individual achievement. Participation has been in the 15-25 players, so not nearly as large as most tournament events, but it still provides a great psuedo-competitive atmosphere in a setting other than straight up death match.
You can check out the Grayskull Campaign here:

And if you are really into it, you can listen to the audio drama backstory for the Grayskull Campaign:

There are rumors of a new narrative campaign being in the works for Gen Con 2019.
The Trench Run is always fun. Biff has made a great Star Destroyer mission that is probably absolutely fine for 2nd Ed. It really is a good one.
If you have access to old 40k stuff than you can do a lot. We have a lot of desert terrain at our store and that includes a lot of canyon type rocks (3D). We made a 6x4 board filled with stuff and put a package in the middle. 4 standard lists that have to fly over the package with their template and then fly off a corner on the opposite side of the table. We had a lot of fun with it.
I want to just make 400 pts vs 400 pts and throw out a large number of asteroids just to see it.
I've been thinking of revamping the Tie Punisher mission to include more stuff for 2nd Ed. Maybe throw in a C-ROC.
