Jamburgin's Legion WIP

By Jamburgin, in Painting

Hi all,

I've been wanting to get into Legion since it's release but never got around to it. Finally decided to bite the bullet and buy some miniatures just to test the waters with it and was pleasantly surprised at the scale of the miniatures being a bit larger than most other tabletop miniature games.

I started out with the Boba Fett miniature, and being a big Mandalorian fan, I decided to modify him a bit to create a custom Mandalorian instead of him being Boba Fett. Altered his pose a bit so that he isn't flying and changed his jetpack to look more like Jango's arena jetpack rather than Boba's usual one. Gave him a custom paint job, and attempted to some freehand Jaig eyes on the helmet but I'm unfortunately not a very good painter so they didn't turn out very good. I am not overly happy with the paint job and it definitely isn't my best work so I may revisit him in the future. Kept the base black for the time being until I decide how I want to base all my Legion miniatures!

I appreciate any and all feedback to help me improve as a painter!

Many thanks,
James

Nice job on your miniature. I really like how this looks like a Jango/Boba type mash-up.

Sticking with the green as an overall primary gives this an Empire Strikes Back feel to it as well. I painted one of my Boba Fetts as the ESB version. I will do a RotJ version as well as a Holiday Special first appearance version.

I look forward to more posts in the future.

“Hi everyone. I’ve been wanting to get into this for a while. For my very first mini ...”

Starts by taking arguably the most iconic figure from the universe, modifies the paint scheme and crushes it.

Jeez man, for your second mini why don’t you take a few artistic risks, lol.

Seriously, he looks great. A lot of people modify color schemes and it looks like they were in the computer and said “turn all the green bits blue.” But this guy looks like he might have just happened in the Star Wars universe haphazardly and not by design. Looks cool.

…..nice werk with the dancing fett...

Thank you! I decided to stick with the green rather than go for something completely different so that it had a Mandalorian Protector vibe to it. I love the idea of a Holiday Special version, I've also been thinking about buying another and painting him up in the glossy white pre-production colours he had at one point.

Thanks! I'm glad you like it. I apologise though for being a bit unclear, whilst he is my first Star Wars Legion miniature, I've been in and out of miniatures games such as Warhammer 40K/Lord of the Rings/Infinity for about 15 years. I have some painting/conversion experience, just nothing crazy like a lot of people I have seen, and I'm always looking for ways to improve.

No worries man. I knew he wasn’t your first miniature ever.

Little known fact but that original white design was an early concept for Troopers. Although it was passed up for the designs that were actually used, it was nice that George Lucas liked it enough to use it later.

A few months late but I've actually built up a decent collection of unpainted miniatures so thought I better start painting them.

Started with a Rebel squad leader. Going for a Tatooine inspired look and will eventually be making a Tatooine board to play on.

Not the best paint job unfortunately. I've been collecting Warhammer 40K for a very long time but have always collected Space Marines which are very different to paint than a miniature wearing clothes instead of Armour.

Hopefully the more rebels I paint the better I will get it at painting cloth but for now he will do for an alright tabletop standard.
