I think all careers should have an associated organization or two to go with them (CAREER COMPENDIUM-STYLE)

By Emirikol, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

Here's something that I've found very useful in my games (WFRP2 and WFRP3): all careers have some kind of 'larger organization' to go with them. It seems like it makes the GM's job easier than just the "generic career." Anyways, here's my list, let me know if I missed any. Note: they all reference WFRP2 info:

Wow.. A lot of good work here!

This sort of thing makes sense and I've been wondering about how characters really change careers from the perspective of a role-playing and background perspective (i.e. finding a teacher/mentor, studying, applying for guild membership). Background details to augment the mechanics.

Now it seems that stuff existed in 2nd edition and so I'm unaware of it.. but I like idea of fleshing out organizations like this.

I would like a list of the full names of the books' accronyms you used please!

No problem:

cc = career compendium (probably the most excellent and chock-full-of-new-material product they put out since 1e)

aom = ashes of middenheim

soa = sp[ires of altdorf (a good place to find locations on the colleges too)

sh- sigmar's heirs

soe= shades of empire (I don't think I even got all of these, as the halflings, dockers, boatmen, and agitators have some more goods here!)

*** = terror in tlalaallabheeim (or however it's spelled)

NDM = night's dark masters

ToS= tome of salvation

Toc = tome of corruption

etc.

It's all from 2nd ed. books and I think most of the abbreviations are standardized on the castle goblinstein wfrp index (google "wfrp index" for abbreviations)

I know there are probably some that I missed. I'd like to get more stuff down for AGENTS. Since they can pretty much be with any organization, they've got the most flexibility. I saw someone was running Eye for an Eye with one of the PC's being an agent of one of the families. I thought that was a good idea too.

The organizations presented in SoE and CC really beefed up the potential for roleplay beyond "what a PC's abilities/stats are." I'm hoping to continue to see that kind of depth with 3e.
