Another BB question

By Mcpolle, in X-Wing Rules Questions

The wording on the BB astromech, says you can before you reveal a blue, make a barrel roll action, does this then stop you performing an action after moving, or is this an extra action??

Thx

It doesn't say that you skip your "preform action step" so yes you can do another action post moving. Also if your ship has a barrel roll linked into something (or if you are poe and can link to anything) you do that linked action as well the follow by a blue move to clear the stress then another action during your perform action step which could also be linked into something.

In X-Wing, you go through all the normal steps of your activation unless something tells you not to. In this case, BB Astromech lets you perform a barrel roll before you execute a blue maneuver; but it doesn't say anything about skipping your perform action step, or preventing you from taking any other actions that turn. Basically, it's a "free action".

Contrast that with a card like Advanced Sensors, which explicitly prevents further actions, or the rules for overlapping an asteroid, which state that you must skip your perform action step.

This should make Poe a monster:-)

Twice.

BB Units only have 2 charges, and don't recharge.

Don't get me wrong, it's a potentially really potent source of action economy, but much like Afterburners, it's pretty limited.

At times, I regret that FFG got rid of their term "free action." It was essentially meaningless and sometimes did add confusion, much like "immediately," but it did distinguish your normal perform action step from other sources of actions.
