Synless ties formation?

By Carnor Rex, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Gearing up for some games today with what was probably a typical 6 tie list. I've practiced and done my research but now I'm considering diverging on a couple key ships and I need some input:

“Howlrunner” — TIE/ln Fighter 40
Swarm Tactics 3

Iden Versio — TIE/ln Fighter 40
Crack Shot 1

Gideon Hask — TIE/ln Fighter 30
Crack Shot 1

“Mauler” Mithel — TIE/ln Fighter 32

“Wampa” — TIE/ln Fighter 30

Academy Pilot — TIE/ln Fighter 23

Total 200

The idea started with replacing Del with a i5 more aggressive 'ace' in mauler which then made me think syn holds much less value so I went all in on the aggressive strat with digeon as another solid (for ties) late game ship. The plan is to deploy in a 3x2 brick with init as follows and howl/mauler on the outside of the brick edge:

Rear row: gideon 4, iden 4, howl 5.

front row: AP 1, wampa 1, Mauler 5.

The general idea is that the swarm can tank 1 loss and then roast anything not i6 with 3 i5 shots followed up by iden and lastly gideon who should be proc'd by then which should then allow me to be shooting first while setting up blocks and kill boxes later. Howl can theoretically be the most protected as the enabler forcing enemies to cross double crack and be in R1 of mauler to gain R1 on her sexy ***. At least initially. Also the deployment *should* allow me some freedom and ease of movement in separating into 3 packs of 2 (front 1s, rear 4s, flank 5s) once they are forced to break formation.

So whats your thoughts or experiences?

Am I over valuing mauler/gideon and under valuing syn/del or does this have some merit? Any fatal flaws in this thing you need to point out prior to game time?

Well I only played one game and lost. And to a janky whisper, jonus, deci build too. But **** was this thing fun to fly. Every ship was fantastic. Crack was used once. Almost smoked jonus outright but then I failed 3 k turns next round, each by a freaking hair, which was obviously game changing. It ended with only the deci left alive at 7 hull.
