Since the release of the the core and wave one we have gotten many new squadron keywords. How would you update any of the older squads to make them feel more authentic to fluff without breaking them? I have been doing a fluff list that has Vader squadron and if I could I would make him more closely emulate his performance in Rebels: Siege of Lothal, Take away escort (Vader dosent take hits for people), add rogue (Doesn't need some joker on a bridge to order him around), add counter 2 (makes you pay for targeting him), trade a brace for a scatter (spinnings a good trick)! Is this to strong? Would he need a points adjustment as well? Who would you change and how and why?

I would take Ketsu's ability and slap it on generic Lancers in a heartbeat

Her ability would make for an interesting new keyword. What could word could we use for that?
Definitely change Vader. Lose escort for sure. Change to brace/scatter & add rogue.
Thematically he could do with an effect to simulate force mastery, perhaps similar to his commander effect - reroll all dice once per attack?
Han Solo seems a bit expensive for what he does, but not a rebel player so can’t really comment.

I think Han is one of the best designs for a squadron that matches the fluff. I don't think he costs too much and the combination of grit and rogue with the ability is super theamatic. Also the fact that his speed is higher than the base model is fun.

I'd like to see Ciena Ree's ability used as cloak on TIE Phantom squadrons to make them more thematic. Might need a points adjustment, but maybe not.

Couldn't agree enough with this. Don't want the Empire to have another scatter ace, so I'm not so excited about that, but I am all for dropping escort and adding rogue.

I like that as an option. I think Phantoms need rogue also or instead with a slight point increase.
I'd like phantoms to just be erratad to cloak after their activation instead of at the end of squad phase. Super useful, plus I wouldn't forget to cloak them then.
I still haven't even tried phantoms. They don't really interest me that much. How do people use them? Are they as boring as they seem?
I am always under the assumption that phantoms would be fine if cloak worked at the start of the squadron phase. If they had Cienna's ability then make it work when not activated.
If you REALLY want to make Vader more thematic, he needs his TIE fighter buddies to right shotgun with him. I think he needs to have the same ability that Hera Syndulla has.

From the old computer games that introduced the Phantom, they need a first strike ability such as- cannot be attacked until they have made an attack perhaps.
The cloak rule as it stands is a get out after the attack function.
Perhaps Phantoms should be rogue as well. They didn’t seem to deploy from a ship in that old computer game

What about, 'CLOAK' When defending treat all attacks as obstructed unless you are activaded, when you activate you may 'decloak'- perform a 1 speed move before or after your attack.

While that definitely does work better to show Vader as he should be, I think it's not just squads that need updates.
I mean...the 'Home One' title? Pretty obviously should instead add a 'Fleet Command' slot or two instead of its current effect. And the Nebulon-B Support Refit (IE., the one nobody ever takes) probably ought to have been given a 'Fleet Support' slot, being a support refit and all, if it had existed at the time. Could possibly do it as a title, too, actually - as the most broken combos with Yavaris would be prevented by both being titles, so needing the same slot.

I mean, I like H1 as it is because it let's me kill a LOT of stuff. And people take the support refit on Salvation or Redemption really.

Well if the game is ever 'complete' then we as a community could go back and through the wiki perhaps produce a document that erratas or updates whatever we want. I would be thrilled with a campaign box that had different options for existing content. Even if that ment the old content became less used, so long as we/ffg can find that balance where both are useable, even if one becomes more popular. Options are good, and we don't need to introduce a completely new character or ship to get those options.
As I maintain - I have a draft “community edition” of rules ready to go whenever the game is “complete”.
Its not yet, so let’s speculate on what can and may be done NOW with what we have in the meantime, if we’re going to spend time speculating 🙂
Like a lot of you, it really irked me that Vader had Escort. Then I decided that he must have that keyword for the inverse reason: Vader has Escort, not because he takes care of other squadrons but because he cannot BE escorted. Which does seem right.
I like to imagine that in the cockpit is the only place he can feel like his old self — engaging in the maverick, showboating style we saw from Annakin in the Clone Wars. No one can keep up enough to protect him with their Escort keyword, and his high-risk/high-reward style makes him a big target.
For a hypothetical Armada 2.0, I do think giving him brace/scatter and rogue make more sense. Though, I also think he shouldn’t be escort-able, and the simplest way to do that us to give him escort.
