I wouldn't say 15 years. GW started the premium price searching (annual price increase) in 2009 and by 2014 they lost most of their business. Dropping metal models in place of resin, changing their publication model, scrapping fantasy to make it more like 40k. By then many players have moved onto Warmachine/Hordes or X-wing.

I´ ve been a GW player since the late eighties (pre 40k). Worked for them in the late nineties. New codex/models creep was there before I started working for them... I wasn` t referring to the price hikes or model changes, in fact, just the "new hotness".

and that was when GW really pissed off their customers to the point of going elsewhere. The New codexs could have been written off as just part of the nature of the expanded game. Hey Dark Eldar hasn't been updated since 2nd edition, what gives? . When they started releasing less of a product for a higher price ( cough finecast cough ), and started throwing away alot of the old stuff to force you to buy the new stuff and a little bit more aggressive on the model creep (Space Marien in Space Marine I mean Crusader armor, Mini titans Knights and super heavy Tau battlesuits). But yeah Age of Sigmar and Primarius Marines are the nails in the proverbial coffin.

For GW and just about any business industry there is the cost of business (nothing is for free and employees need to pay rent/mortgage) type of business practices, and then there is real scummy (our investors are demanding a 3% growth of stock price) business practices. The problem is many companies are pushing the envelope thinking they can get away with the scum by saying it is for their employees when it only is for their investors, (and worse punish their customers for misplaced loyalty because they believe their customers are none the wiser).

At least GW produces its models in the UK. That ain` t cheap...

But the price will always be set to the level that people are willing to pay, in order to maximse profits. I suspect that X wing was underpriced though, in order to help with market penetration. Now it has a large, relatively stable, player base, they can set a "real" price.

They (GW) raised prices again though. Last month... It has always happened at this time of year.
