To clarify Solo Gunner and Dash Rendar

By topacesteve, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Hello, i m bringing up again an older matter that i wasn't fully satisfied from the answers...

1. Does Han Gunner make a Free Attack and then Dash can make his normal Turret attack?

2. When Outrider Dash shoots through an obstacle with Trick shot does he get +1 Dice and the Defender gets NO added Obstacle Dice???

Also, if YT2400 or any medium/large base ship is overlapping (standing on) an obstacle and he traces Range tp a target but the range ruler

is overlapping a portion of the obstacle that extends in front of my ships base....is this attack still obstructed?

1: Han makes a free attack, then Dash makes an attack at his normal initiative, but cannot do so with the arc han shot out of. So he shoots from the other side, if he has a target.

2: Correct.

3: Depends on the exact locations of the two ships and which arc you're shooting from.

it's worth noting, han gunner is normally only used on a yt-2400 if the list also contains roark garnet as a wingman. roark can then let the pilot of the yt-2400 engage at initiative 7 before the bonus attack with han gunner is performed. this lets the yt-2400 attack the same target twice out of the same arc at initiative 7.

Well, technically... the defender gets +1 defense die due to the obstructed attack, then -1 defense die due to Outrider. Same effect, but the attack *is* still obstructed, for effects that could matter for specific pilots down the line.

Minor point: Han grants a "bonus attack" which is an important distinction. Bonus attacks are only allowed once per ship (per round), meaning you cannot Han out the side and double tap with cluster missiles out the front.

Han could do the Bonus attack and then Dash could make his main attack as a secondary cluster or using turret for another arc right? SwampyCr i didnt get what u said

Han Gunner *isn't* actually a bonus attack - which doesn't matter any more. Each ship may only make one additional attack per round, regardless of source. So if Han Gunner shots, then, Dash shoots with Cluster Missiles, he can't take the bonus attack from Cluster Missiles, because he already used Han Gunner.

The phrasing of the rules reference made it seem as though any attack outside of your "normal attack" is a bonus attack (swarm tactics/Roark grant normal attacks at different times).

Thespaceinvader clarified my point - you can shoot with Han at 7 and any other attack after, except the same bowtie/rotating arc attack. However, since Han counts as a "bonus attack" any other bonus attacks are out (Ghost/Phantom, Cluster Missiles, etc).

no, it's most definitely a bonus attack. it's in the FAQ on the last page of the rules reference.

Valid. I forgot that's how the answer was phrased.
