First FO List thoughts

By Ryuneke, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Wanna share my first two list ideas...

Kylo was by far my favorite pilot in 1st edition. Now he’s at 82(!) points which I think is too expensive for I5...

nevertheless here are my 2 lists...

"Quickdraw" (45)
Fanatical (2)
Special Forces Gunner (10)
Fire-Control System (3)

Kylo Ren (82)
Supernatural Reflexes (12)

"Null" (31)
Squad Leader (4)
Biohexacrypt Codes (1)

Total: 190

View in Yet Another Squad Builder 2.0

Flying Kylo effective requires a deep bid imo. With QD and Null you’ll have two annoying bits to help. I’m really not sure about this QD....She'll loose her shields pretty fast I guess. Fanatical gives her good modifiers without shields. The plan is to take a TL first. Gotta try it out..

Null is just cool because he can coordinate at I7

——————————

"Quickdraw" (45)
Juke (4)
Special Forces Gunner (10)
Fire-Control System (3)
Shield Upgrade (6)

"Backdraft" (41)
Juke (4)
Special Forces Gunner (10)
Fire-Control System (3)

Starkiller Base Pilot (56)
General Hux (10)
Advanced Sensors (8)

Total: 200

Shuttle is there for double coordinate with hux. Both sf’s take an evade and TL after maneuver. What I think could work really well is the combination of juke and FCS so both SF’s can use the evade for defense later on. Advanced sensors gives the shuttle more flexibility.

I might not bother with the HU on QD, and I would love to run Longshot with Fanatical instead of Null

Second list looks dope

Right. An idea came to my mind: what do you think if I put squad leader with biohexacrypt codes on Null? So at the beginning of round 1 he takes a lock on Kylo or QD. Now he can coordinate from wherever he is at anytime on I7. Coordinate a TL on QD so she gets into the fight double modded or do the same thing with Kylo...

Thats fascinating. I love it.

Explain this more? It sounds... Interesting

Can Lock any object other than self in 2.0.

Squad Leader: Adds a red Coordinate Action Text: "While you coordinate, the ship you choose can perform an action only if that action is also on your action bar."

Biohexacrypt Codes Text: "While you coordinate or jam, if you have a lock on a ship, you may spend that lock to choose that ship, ignoring range restrictions."

Coordinate is normally range 1-2. If you have a Lock on one of your squad mates with Null with this upgrade set Null can hang back out of combat, outside of range 2 of the friendly, and still coordinate that friendly by burning the Lock. As long as Null Coordinates an action on Null's bar.

Yes to BH on Null. This was what I’m going to fly first, it includes that. Null is there for the cheap coordinate for Kylo, pretty much.

Kylo with Help

(82) Kylo Ren
(12) Supernatural Reflexes
(8) Primed Thrusters
Points 102

(44) "Midnight"
(2) Fanatical
(4) Advanced Optics
Points 50

(31) "Null"
(4) Squad Leader
(1) Biohexacrypt Codes
Points 36

Total points: 188

188 is a ridic bid!

Thanks for the explanation Hiemfire

Compared to what we are seeing now with bids, it really isn’t. Kylo really, really wants to move last. Badly. I think 10 points is going to be the minimum bid in that race.

What was the 1.0 bid range for the I race there? 12 roughly equates to 6 in 1.0 points.

(31) "Null"

I think this list lacks firepower. I’d rather have a 10pt. bid and QD in my list. I really like midnight but she’s in a TIE, throwing 2 dice.

Null with bio and squad leader will probably become his standard loadout. I7 coordinate is so valuable.

Also, try Homing Missiles on QD. You get 1dmg plus keep the lock for revenge shot mod.

9 point bid, without the coordinate. I think they have different goals - this list is written to keep Kylo full up, while a QD list is built more to brawl.

scum and villainy podcast just has an episode that talked to Kylo and what he brings to the fight and they discuss the importance of moving last at 5 and the flexibility that primed thrusters gives you. We are seeing high bids with I5 centric lists right now - Boba Guri is one example.

Have you thought about switching hull to shield upgrade? The value of an extra attack may outweigh the benefit of fanatical for one additional hull.

Sorry, I should’ve made clear that I already updated the list:

"Quickdraw" (45)
Fanatical (2)
Special Forces Gunner (10)
Fire-Control System (3)

Kylo Ren (82)
Supernatural Reflexes (12)

"Null" (31)
Squad Leader (4)
Biohexacrypt Codes (1)

Total: 190

Like I mentioned above I added Squad Ldr. and dropped some cards from QD. Now I have a 10pt. bid. I can drop FCS for 13 pts. Need some playtesting first...

That's an interesting list, Null is going to be a real pain in the ***, but I still worry about Quickdraws 2 defence die.

I would TL Kylo and keep Null and QD together. Because Null is moving last you know exactly who you want to coordinate. In that case you can coordinate an evade/focus on QD to boost his defense. If Kylos in bad spot you can coordinate him ignoring range restrictions.

  • Pretty Boy Thanisson - Pattern Analyser, Kylo Ren
  • Quickdraw - Fanatical, FCS, Spec Forces Gunner
  • Null - Fanatical
  • TN-3465

I had something similar:

Petty Officer Thanisson - Advanced Sensors, Captain Phasma

Quickdraw - Special Forces Gunner, Fanatical

Muse - Trick Shot

Null - Squad Leader, Biohexacrypt Codes

Total - 199 pts

Quite looking forward to trying this out. :-)

I7 coordinate on a ship with green turns. that's a thing. A thing that will rapidly get smashed to I0, but hey...

If they are shooting at Null they are not shooting QD or Kylo. So there's that.

My biggest problem with FO lists is fitting everything and giving Kylo a decent bid. Kylo is just so expensive... I am wondering if Blackout + Bigger bid isn't a better option.

"Blackout" (70)
Trick Shot (1)
Proton Torpedoes (9)

"Quickdraw" (45)
Crack Shot (1)
Special Forces Gunner (10)
Fire-Control System (3)

"Midnight" (44)
Fanatical (2)

Total: 185

Leaves you with 15 points. Maybe Pattern on QD or you can stand pat and make sure you go last.

I just don't like the Silencer much at any of the pilots. Feels a bit E-Wingy to me.

This is true, but at least with the Biohexacrypt Codes you can coordinate from the other side of the battlefield if you like.

Not in Hyperspace format though

We all have to try it out if it works or not. I’ll get a chance on Friday.
