Looking for a good Armada podcast for a new player. Recommendations?
Best podcast for a new player.
Fire When Ready (http://www.firewhenreadypodcast.com/) is great for learning the basics of how to use various ships and squadrons. Each episode is short-and-sweet, self-contained, and you can pick an episode that features what interests you. As you go further back, however, some of the content might be a bit out-of-date.
Comms Noise features longer episodes, and is good if you want to hear people reflect on their recent tournament performances or feelings on recently announced ships.

Almost as fun as listening to paint dry!

I love it when I see they have long episodes uploaded. It's great for me to listen to at work or whilst driving.
I could listen to people chat Armada for literally hours.

As mentioned before, Fire When Ready is likely the best go to Armada podcast for new players. His break downs of ships and squadrons can give some good insight into the game and fleetbuilding.
After that, once you have some games under your belt and a decent understanding of the game, there are a few others. I personally like Galactic Conflict.
Edited by AstrodarRemoved an unnecessary bit.
Galactic conflict is my other favourite.
Fire When Ready is definitely the best for new players.

I think you've been standing by with negativity for a while now. You can take a break now.

It wasn't everybody's cup of tea, but I really liked wwpd.net's IFF podcasts. It might be worth it to dig them up.

I loved the IFF podcasts back when I was a young admiral just learning how to play the game. It would be interesting to see how the game has changed since then, but I think going back and listening now would just make me sad.
If you are only going to listen to one go with, Fire When Ready, for the reasons given above.
Then, jump into the others.

Obvious troll is obvious.
In all seriousness ORJ is a bit of a niche taste. Good content, but presentation that many find juvenlie and unappealing (myself included).
@drail14me I'm not really a podcast person so I'll wave vaguely in the direction of the other constructive posts and tell you that anything that comes up that often can't be too terrible.

Troll? Because you think no one is allowed to enjoy or even tolerate a sense of humor different from your own? Wow...
You yourself just admitted that they have good content. I find their content and their pacing to the the best of the current offerings, by a long margin. That said, yes their humor can be a bit sophomoric and skews to the crude side of things, but they clearly note this themselves as warnings to would-be listeners, such that it shouldn't come as a GOTCHA! surprise to anyone). Just because you and others find it unappealing doesn't mean that everyone does or that the OP would, everyone has different tastes and different tolerances, especially for humor.
It certainly doesn't mean that the ORJ has to be censored entirely off a list of podcasts available to Armada players, as you've tried to do here by suggesting that anyone who likes the ORJ must just be "trolling for the lulz."
The ORJ has, I think, the best understanding of the meta/competitive game of all the podcasts, and Bill and the guys have a lot of tournament success and experience to draw from as they present their views.

Wow...I don't think that; senses of humor are like opinions, everyone is allowed to one, even ones others don't like. That said, my opinion of ORJ is sufficiently low enough that I did take it as trolling, especially without a content warning. Looks like projection is going around.

Sophomoric is kind, as is crude. They think they're the Deadpool of Armada podcasts. They aren't. (Again, opinion, the opinion of someone who loves the Deadpool movies.) I'd repost some of their finest work here, except I like not getting reported or banned. If you like their pacing, that is a valid critique I cannot discuss, because I can never make it ten minutes at a stretch before I start to feel numb. If OP would like to investigate, certainly that is his prerogative, but I also took his suggestion as seeking quality podcasts on the whole, which I do not believe ORJ to be, and expressed such. (More on that in a moment.)
It certainly doesn't mean that the ORJ has to be censored entirely off a list of podcasts available to Armada players, as you've tried to do here by suggesting that anyone who likes the ORJ must just be "trolling for the lulz."Of the podcasts that may be true. As I noted above, I am an infrequent listener at best. However, I personally place high value on quality across all parts of a production. Quality commentary does me no good if I can't stand the presenters long enough to hear it. It's like being offered bacon, wrapped in artichoke. There are people out there who like bacon (me), artichoke (not me), and the two together (not me because I dislike artichoke enough bacon can't save it). Now go replace that with meta-commentary (and for the record, I said good, not great) and the sense of humor we all wish we escaped when we got out of the middle school locker room, but apparently have not.
Allow me to be blunt. You are a troll @AllWingsStandyingBy. You didn't use to be, but you are now. I cannot count the number of threads formerly positive in the last month you have arrived to troll with unwanted negativity and general complaining, often at best tangent to the original point. So yes, I took your ORJ suggestion as a troll. You complain about people driving people away from the forums with negativity, while doing the most to achieve that result yourself of anyone as active as you currently on these forums. Think about that, including a break, because you clearly don't enjoy the forums (the jury on whether you enjoy Armada is out). In the interest of not further derailing the thread, I will not reply further. Have a good day all.
Thanks guys! I’ve got all the Fire When Ready.

And I know you asked for podcasts, but if you're up for YouTube, I highly recommend Master of the Fleet. They have a lot of videos talking about specific ships and offering tips and tricks for flying them. Their battle reports are also nice because they talk before each match about what they hope will happen, and then debrief about what went right/wrong.
RIP IFF 😢
Another vote for Fire When Ready, great podcast. @Armada Jim we love your stuff guy.

Master of the fleet is excellent for new players. I can’t recommend it enough, but it’s not a podcast as already stated.

I appreciate this remark, if only because it caused me to read the welcome post.
"This is your place to share your thoughts about the game and related topics with other fans and community members. As always, we expect you to be respectful of all members, so please refrain from any hostility, and use language appropriate for all audiences."
I've never listened to the unmentionable podcast, because I decided I did not like the joke in the title, and so would not like the rest of it.
But Ginkapo - doesn't the use of language also mean that the MOTF channel ought not be promoted here?
I'm not advocating for that - the MOTF crew are friends of mine and are well aware of my dislike of profanity - but I still watch it and find it of value (though I cannot watch it while my kids are anywhere nearby).
