Ships attacking squadrons

By LostFleet, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

Ok I am bit ashamed to ask this but I think me and my group are playing this all wrong.

So the question is what is the attack range when a ship is attacking a squadron, does it depends on the color of the dice? for example if it the ship has a blue dice, can it attack from medium range , or is it distance 1 on the squadron side of the ruler?

For the past two years ( no worries, we are no tourney players) and we always used distance 1 to attack squadrons, I hope we were not wrong :)

A ship attacking squadrons use the range of its anti squadron armament so yes, black=short; blue=short-medium; red=short-long

Exactly what @ovinomanc3r said. A squadron's attack range to a ship is always Distance 1 (barring Rhymer who makes it Close Range). A ship's range to attack a squadron is exactly like when attacking a ship. It can gather all the dice in its anti-squadron armament pertinent to the range the squadron is at.

As an example: Say you have a blue-black anti-squadron armament and you are attacking the squadrons out one hull zone. Squad 1 is within close range and Squad 2 is at medium range. You may use both blue and black against Squad 1, but only blue against Squad 2.

Thank you guys, well we were playing all wrong afterall. Our logic was that since squadrons are smaller and more mobile compared to capital ships, it would be harder to shoot at them, so thats why we thought ships would have same range with squadrons ( distance 1) when attacking a squadron.

Nevertheless issue solved, thank you again

You were close - smaller and harder is most likely ewhy Crit results don’t count against them 🙂
