Three 140 point Scum lists??

By Ikka, in X-Wing Squad Lists

My local league is doing a variable point month for Dec. This means that the more you win, the less points you have to spend in the next match (200>180>160>140). We will probably be going in carrying over our win numbers from Nov, so I will be at 140 points for the first match. In that frame of mind, I felt like doing some experimenting and came up with three Scum lists I'd like some input on. The first one is the most competitive list, with 4LOM and Guri doing their normal tricks. The second has Dengar and Kavil, for some fun torps and decent maneuvering. The third is completely new to me, as I've never flown Kimogilas ar all, or N'Dru in 2.0.

Any thoughts or suggestions on which list to fly?

List 1

(49) 4-LOM
(3) 0-0-0
(4) Lone Wolf
(2) Mist Hunter
Points 58

(62) Guri
(8) Advanced Sensors

Points 76

Total points: 134

List 2

(64) Dengar
(9) Proton Torpedoes
(8) Punishing One
(4) R5-P8
(5) Contraband Cybernetics
Points 90

(42) Kavil
(4) Dorsal Turret
(2) Expert Handling
(2) R4 Astromech
Points 50

Total points: 140

List 3

(4) Expert Handling
Points 54

(44) Cartel Executioner
(4) Expert Handling
Points 48

(31) N'dru Suhlak
(4) Lone Wolf
(3) Homing Missiles
Points 38

Total points: 140

  1. I like the thought of 4-LOM/Guri, but I'd swap out Lone Wolf (and either 0-0-0 or bid) for Advanced Sensors. 4-LOM loves those red maneuvers, and getting an action before them is pretty strong. I'm sure both ways are fine, but that's how I'd prefer mine.
  2. I think I'd build Kavil/Dengar pretty differently. For Dengar, I'd just run title and R5-P8, coming in at 76 points, and I'd run a more standard Kavil (Han gunner, Dorsal Turret, Proton Torpedo, R4 Astromech). I figure Dengar can already punch above his weight with double-tapping, and Kavil has access to a double-mod Torpedo, which is pretty potent. For Talents... maybe Expert Handling on Kavil, or maybe just Trick Shot on both ships. While the Jumpmaster likes to point forwards, you'll probably have to turn the arc sometimes, and having an extra die on obstructed shots seems good. And Kavil probably has his arc sideways fairly often.
  3. I'm unsure on the Kimogilas. Expert Handling isn't bad, but red actions can be cleared with blue moves. It might be nicer to run R3 Astromechs for extra action efficiency, as well as Crack Shot. That seems like it'll hit extra hard with Dead to Rights when you can trigger it.

Allow me to add one more: Boba Fett (Debris Gambit, Marauder, Han Solo) (89), Palob Godalhi (Trick Shot, Moldy Crow) (51)

Your league already has you at the 60 pt handicap? You must be running the tables there. :) I agree with theBitterFig about swapping out Expert Handling for R3+Crack on the Kimos and that isn't a bad build for N'dru. 4-LOM + Guri feels to squishy to me. If you have access to 2 Firesprays would you consider 2 Bounty Hunters with HLC? They're not Boba, but they can brawl really well and the HLC would be nice against med and large bases, mostly against large bases, for 4 die out to Range 3.

1. Thats a good suggestion, I'll look into it.

2. I don't have the Han gunner, so unfortunately I can't quite run that list.

3. Crackshot/R3 is a good idea.

No Han Gunner/Moldy Crow unfortunately.

I managed to go 4-0 last month, so I'm in the top tier of handicaps. Wish I had 2 Firesprays, but I've only got the one.

Wow, 'grats and drat. Had fun with 2 bounty hunters and 2 spacers last night which is why it came to mind. :)

This format has me intrigued.

I would find something like this hard to resist.

Yeah, that's unfortunate. Two of the strongest Scum upgrades, and of course they're not in the Scum conversion kit. It might be worth checking with friends, you might be able to borrow the upgrades.

I think Boba Fett with Slave 1 and IG-88D is also probably going to be solid for a Firespray, if you really wanted to run one.

So, 2 Kimogilas was not quite enough to stand up to Fenn and Old T. So here's two new Scum 140 lists for next week. Keeping Guri because she is maneuverable and nasty up close.

List 1

(62) Guri
(8) Advanced Sensors
(6) Outmaneuver
Points 76

(42) Kavil
(6) Dengar
(4) Dorsal Turret
(2) Expert Handling
(4) Shield Upgrade
Points 58

Total points: 134

List 2

(49) 4-LOM
(3) 0-0-0
(2) Mist Hunter
(8) Advanced Sensors
Points 62

(62) Guri
(8) Advanced Sensors
(6) Outmaneuver
Points 76

Total points: 138

I am assuming your opponents will have a similarly "cut-down" list.

In that case you may find trouble getting 4-LOM to range 1 of your opponents limited number of ships. This really limits his ability and the use of 0-0-0.

Guri is similar but way more flexible so not as bigg of an issue.

For that reason I think list 1.

That's the one I'm pretty sure I'm taking- for some reason Y-wings tend to last longer than the Mist Hunter for me and Kavil is just a major pain to anyone within Range 2 of himself.
