Unfortunately RVS 'ers are usually labelled trouble makers rather than early solvers round these parts... but good townplay is partly ensuring rvs takes place, but also doesn't go on longer than nessecucumber.

Good game, guys! It felt like town had a shot right until the end. Props to scum for guts and some tricky plays.

I will be taking a break from mafia until January, so I will probably miss a few.

Would people be interested in a mafia game set in 1920's Hollywood? I could see myself writing something like that.

Also I just skimmed the obs doc and I feel justified for the position I took during emojigate.

I am always up for another. I would imagine, however, that the next few weeks may be busy for many, so a wait may be advisable.

I believe @Herowannabe is next in the queue of hosts, unless LP wants to co-host with Ebon, which I think was proposed but never officially confirmed.

I'm wondering how a Resistance kind of system would work... it has the advantage of anyone dying so the fun never ends until the game is over.

I have heard good things about resistance but have not done my homework on it. What are the similarities / differences to Mafia?

Basically the objective of the game is similar. A group of bad guys amongst the good guys. Bad guys knows each other but, obviously, goodies have no idea. Good guys must discover the bad guys, and the badies must remain unknown.

The difference is that instead of killing each other, they "fight" for the success of bunch of misions (5).

Each round all together decide the team for the current mision democratically. Once the team is formed, only those elected will participate on the mision. They do that just secretely voting success or fail. After they vote, the votes are revealed. If there is just one fail amongst them the mission fails and baddies are one step closer to the victory. If the goodies get three success they win, if the baddies get three failures, they win. Baddies also win if the group cannot get consensus on a team five times in a row.

So gooddies should unroot the spies to prevent them from getting in the mission team. And baddies must get at least one of them in those teams to sabotage the missions.

There are also special actions such as to look someone else role, to show your role to another player, veto a team once, look at a mission card (votes for success or fail), vote first and publicly, etc.

That sounds pretty interesting. I think you'd have to host the first one though, ovi, so that we get the rules/setup correct.

Resistance i feel like relies heavily on body language, since there’s so little actual information to work with. I’d play though. But I like mafia.

You have the mission outcomes and the actions. And the team election votes

But I acknowledge I have no idea if it could work.

There are things that needs a little adaptation though, that's why I was just wondering about it.

I think @EbonHawk and I need a wee bit more time to prepare this crazy thing. I’m going to sit out the next one so I can focus on prepping it properly so it’s ready. Maybe Ebon/Preyer madness over Xmas?!

All, apologies for my piss poor participation there in the end. I couldn't yank myself from work and other commitments enough to adequately post.

These last six or so games have been so much fun, but I think I need to step back for a bit, mostly due to holidays and other commitments.

I'll def be back, but gonna sit the next few out.

I better hold off on hosting for now, seeing as how I wasn't even able to muster up enough time and energy to properly participate as a player in this game. Perhaps once we get past the holidays and things (hopefully) settle down for me IRL.

The benefits of hosting are that you need even less time, usually, unless it is a crazy setup like this.

So I guess the consensus is that we wait for January?
