In legend, yes. The Disney Canon brought the A-wing in much sooner, although all Yavin's A-wings were out of commission at the time of Battle of Yavin.

Animewarsdude recently created a post about putting faces to names. According to him this is a picture of Horton Salm at Endor, not Dutch Vander at Yavin.
