I’ve had good luck on eBay too. I was able to get the Imperial Assault Hoth expansion for 50% of retail and the cardboard components weren’t punched out yet...
Imperial fighter shortage
One of the downsides of E-bay is that you can't support your local game store, which is something you want to do to preserve the health of the game locally. there are also people who don't want to buy used: that's their choice to make, regardless of how you feel about it.

I dont think anyone is saying only buying on eBay is bad. I think I am however saying that not appreciating buying used can be a great idea is a bit narrow minded.
As for supporting local game stores. I generally agree in a sense, but we live in capitalist countries so telling people to buy expensively is a bit weird - granted that cheaper and legal options exist 😛 I personally just play with my friends.
Armada is pretty expensive in Denmark and the local game stores is selling e.g. an MC75 Profundity pack for 365 DKK whilst the cheapest online game store in DK sells for 260 DKK (+35 DKK shipping but that's a flat rate so easily mitigated by buying more than one item). When I'm talking about 50% retail price on eBay I'm talking about only mint condition items and compared to the cheap online store (without the shipping cost added) with the shipping cost from eBay accounted for.
Compares to my local game store eBay prices in a good lot/good singular purchase is around the 35% mark. I'm not sure I see for what reason you'd want to pay 65% more on average for an expensive game that incentivise multiple purchases just for single cardboard cards (XI7s, TRCs etc.).
Would you want to downsize your collection by 65%? I personally don't and I would never ask my friends to get into a game that necessitates an investment of something akin to a entire months salary (after taxes) to have a fully meta competitive fleet with all options available to you if you were to buy in a local game store. A price mark that will only increase with expansions like the SSD being released.
Again, I regret not buying used from the get go given that I spend about 35-45% of all the money I've spend on Armada on a fraction of my current collection due to buying it in a local game store rather than used or a cheap online store. I'm not saying other people can't decide if they want to pay a mark up cost for the pleasure of unpacking completely NiB, but saying you should pay premium prices to support your local game store is a cheap and moralistic argument I can't get behind in that context.
Edited by Cpt. CaineI can’t speak for others, but I just prefer knowing I’m the first and only user of a particular item. Ie that all the wear and tear is because of me, not some prior owner.
When it comes to out of print things, I obviously have to let that prefence slide, but otherwise, no way.

As mentioned, I fully respect that!
My experience has just been mint condition on most things, some things virtually new in box (tokens still in cardbox, shield dials never attached - plus the original box. I'm only missing the original box of the GSD to have a full collection of boxes despite buying a lot of things used. I like displaying them) and zero missing cards or broken anything. So for me it has been a bit of an epiphany in terms of buying used since I've never cared for it before. So if one is afraid of 'bad items', one only has to consider the regulations on eBay as to how things need to be in good condition if that is what the items are listed as - or you can demand your money back.
So again, I just want to spread the word since it might same people money if they actually know the availability of almost NiB condition Armada items. I don't at all want to force anyone to not buy new if they want to have the true unboxing experience. I recently got the last Imperial ships I was missing in my collection for my birthday and I loved unpacking the boxes, that's worth some money for sure
Just... not 50% or 65% in my opinion
