BroBots Version 2

By martini74, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So, upcoming tournament. Extended format. The local area will have all sorts of list. I do like running the BroBots, so, here is the list I have currently built.

BroBots v.2

(70) IG-88D
(3) Seismic Charges
(5) Contraband Cybernetics
(3) Trajectory Simulator
(3) Elusive
(2) IG-2000
(8) Shield Upgrade
Points 94

(70) IG-88C
(3) Seismic Charges
(5) Contraband Cybernetics
(8) Shield Upgrade
(3) Trajectory Simulator
(3) Elusive
(2) IG-2000
Points 94

Total points: 188

Ideas of possible changes.

1. Outmaneuver over Elusive

2. Static Discharge Viens over Shield Upgrade.

Any ideas? Comments?

I think the B&C combo offers better utility and efficiency.

I see where you are going with the Traj Sim but the IG88's are fast so dropping bombs should be fine.

How about this - fully loaded B&C (100 pts each)

Juke, Ion Cannon, Proton Bombs, Ablative Plating, Collision Detector, Contraband Cybernetics & Title

So in one round each ship could - drop a bomb, move (including red move with cotra), boost over obstacles, take an evade action and have juke double tap available for offense.

Would take some fancy flying but looks like heaps of fun but very dice dependent.

B AND C, B AND C

Both with Juke, Ion Cannon, ProBombs, TrajSim, Ablative, Cybernetics, and the title

For those arguing in favor of juke I would rather go with A&C so you can Evade with the one in the thick of it and the other passes it a calc token. No need for a follow up Canon if your first shot hits anyways. For bonus token passing, I like to slot in a third ship carrying D crew to support slim A&C with just juke and fcs

Now, back to @martini74 's actual list. Why is your bid so high? I'm guessing it's because you anticipate i4 being a crowded bracket, but where I'm at there's relatively few pilots being flown in the i3/4 bracket. I'm not fond of IGD because doing red moves degrades your action efficiency so he needs some additional support to get that previous action back; either in the form of token passing from A, AdvSensors, or coordinate from another (third) ship. Without mods IGs die quickly or don't do much damage. With my take on IGs in general out of the way, I'll move on to your list specifically...

I have not personally gotten the hang of TrajSym, but I've seen how it amplifies a list's jousting potential (if you can control the approach) or just gives more options. If you're not attached to your large bid I would consider swapping seismic for proton unless you're up against a bunch of obstacle-loving Han types, in which case you should absolutely blow 'em all up!

On outmaneuver v elusive I like outmaneuver better if you think you can consistently trigger it, with some good flanking you should get one or the other to get it. On the other hand elusive does mesh well with D's ability since he'll want to do reds anyways and gives you a much needed defensive mod when you do pills those sweet reds.

Props for building a list with IG-88D. A, B, and C definitely make for better efficiency, but D's all about the mobility options, and I think you should maximize that when using a list with D.

Advanced Sensors is a mildly less flexible, reusable Contraband Cybernetics. Being able to boost before you resolve your flexible Talon Rolls adds extra unpredictability, and more resilience to bumping. You're not worried about obstacles getting in the way, so bringing some debris to replace the ones you destroy adds some extra control.

The only other change I'd suggest is changing IG-88C to IG-88A. Using your Advanced Sensors to boost means you lose out on your extra evade action, so if you find yourself doing that a lot the added token flexibility can be useful.

I am thinking of going with Outmaneuver over Elusive. No real crowd of I4 expected, or a Han build either. I do like the options of IG88D when doing an S-Loop. The possibility of three options is good. I have never used Elusive, but have had it used against me. I am familiar with Outmaneuver and will stick with it.

I like the Idea of D with contraband and bombs. Choose a K turn, have flexibility for where they will be, contraband to drop a bomb on them. Little janky but sounds like it could be fun.

Have you flown this or are we in theory crafting territory? Just asking b ecause I feel like 2 ships is not enough ships for me in 2.0. Maybe you have different experience.

You can fit 2 boots plus a third ship. Palob with IG-88D and moldy crow fits, or Lando with quite some points left for upgrades. I tried the Palob list and a similar list with Lando and had much fun with them.

IG-88A (70)
IG-2000 (2)

IG-88C (70)
IG-2000 (2)

Palob Godalhi (38)
Debris Gambit (2)
IG-88D (4)
Moldy Crow (12)

Posted German lists, now they are in English

The idea of having ion guns and bomb flinging on the same ship has lots of appeal. I’ve built that for the Scrug but it seems to get too spendy for the amount of time I expect it to stick around.

On the other hand, Brobots have a bit more staying power and could probably pull it off.

Yes, I have flown this in tournaments. Ended up 1-2 this past weekend. Lost 1st round to a tie bomber list with barrage rockets. It didnt go to well on my side, but learned alot quickly. 2nd round was a loss also, but not by alot, 146-130(ish). It was a Wedge/Luke/???? List. Third round winn, 200-97. It was a 4 T-65 list, 4 x-wings. I knew not to just them and forced them through some rocks to pick off shields.

Two ship lists are at a disadvantage I do feel like. But I have always liked the look of the Agressor and the way it flies. Still working and tweaking.
