Imperials for first 2.0 tournament

By asters89, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hi all,

Trying to pull together a decent list for my first 2.0 tournament soon. I'm fairly happy with Brath and the two academies, but I'm not entirely sure what to do with the remaining points. 63 points to play with which I've used for Soontir, but what are your thoughts on the load out? Different EPT? no hull and a bigger bid?

I know you can also get redline with torps and adv sensors but I'm not sure I'd enjoy flying it as much. Alternatively I did think about vynder with torps, adv slam and some other upgrades to taste but I've flown him a couple of times and the PS4 puts him in a weird spot.

TIE/in Interceptor - •Soontir Fel - 61
•Soontir Fel - Ace of Legend (52)
Predator (2)
Hull Upgrade (7)

TIE/D Defender - •Rexler Brath - 91
•Rexler Brath - Onyx Leader (84)
Juke (4)
Fire-Control System (3)

TIE/ln Fighter - Academy Pilot - 23
Academy Pilot - (23)

TIE/ln Fighter - Academy Pilot - 23
Academy Pilot - (23)

Total: 198/200

I like it.

some Suggestions:

option 1) drop FCS from Rexler for a stronger bid.

option 2) drop FCS and Hull Upgrade and take Advanced Sensors for Rexler. It's a lifesaver and gives him "endless" options.

The adv sensors vs FCS is an interesting question. Very possible that I'm still stuck in the first edition mindset that FCS is almost auto-take. I can see that adv sensors would certainly give him more flexibility, especially as the defender move-set is pretty predictable.

I don't have too many qualms with taking hull off Soontir. I think I'll have to get use to flying him a different way, and keeping him a bit cheaper at least makes him a bit more dispensable.

What's your experience with Soontir's options for EPTs? Obviously predator has synergy with his ability, but there are a couple of other interesting options, juke or lone wolf maybe?

Thanks for the feedback!

Id only change it up on Soontir. I'd have him like this.

(52) Soontir Fel
(6) Outmaneuver
Points 58

I'm not the biggest fan of adv. sensors on defenders though, kills the evade token after maneuver that feeds juke.

Ye it does do that, but I can also see the benefit of having it for those times where someone gets in position to block you. Very tough decision I think.

Predator or nothing... Keeping his point costs down makes him less attractive for your opponent. With his I6 he's still huge threat especially when it comes down to maneuverbility.

I won a local tournament with this:

Soontir Fel (52)
Predator (2)

“Howlrunner” (40)
Crack Shot (1)

Iden Versio (40)
Crack Shot (1)

Gideon Hask (30)
Crack Shot (1)

Seyn Marana (30)
Marksmanship (1)

Total: 198

As you can see... a 54pts. Soontir lets you spend more points for the rest of you list...

Shield Upgrade just seems better than hull. 198 is basically no-bid, so just running the Shield for crit protection seems better. A lot of serious bidders are going really deep (like, more than 10 points), so I'd just keep the Shield. Juke Defenders don't mind too much if you're stuck going before other Init 5s: you'll be harder to block, and Juke works best if you're free to spend the Evade token after shooting.

Redline (Proton Torpedoes/Advanced Sensors) at 61 is great, as would be Whisper with Juke and Collision Detector (also 61), but I get what you're saying about Soontir being what you think you'll have the most fun with.

I also love Outmaneuver Soontir. Dropping Predator and FCS could afford it, but I don't know if I like that better in this list. FCS is nice, and Predator isn't bad either.
