Your a wild man Crabbok
Your a wild man Crabbok
What a set of pipes!
Pretty sure when the independent content creators of your game have to start writing songs to turn into Youtube videos because FFG wont give them ANYTHING to talk about AND you make them take their videos down discussing information that FFG leaked, you need to wake the **** up.
FFG why can't you at least publish what has already been leaked so that we can at least talk about it and Crabbok can make videos? I'm starting to think you don't really want my money.

So the reveal that would maybe placate fans is being placed in an industry publication? WTF FFG???

IT goes out to game stores and people can subscribe to it. Its not really an industry magazine.

I've never seen nor heard of it before today. It is the magazine of a distribution company. It clearly has limited reach. It is another poor decision by FFGs highly skilled marketing team. They must be stable geniuses.

Lol I get this magazine (out of no where, i never ordered but have apparently had a sub for 2+ years , no clue). The latest issue is sitting on my counter at home, I'll have to actually look at it and see
On the plus side.... I saw this today

But it's for the RPG.
So 2 things -
1) the RPG rocks, so I have no problem with that. My character literally got shot (critically) in the throat last night and now I have a Darth Malgus style voice box that emits pretty lights!
and
2) commissioning artwork of this type might just be a good thing.... ya know... for the future.

I think they're just a bunch of sadists at FFG and they enjoy torturing us Armada fans

Is this meant to be a picture of all the ships carrying xwing and legion CW era miniatures flying away leaving us Armada fans behind? All it needs is some guy playing an acoustic guitar singing a sad tune and its perfect ðŸ˜ðŸ˜Ž

No, those ships are WAAAAAAY too fast for FFG products.
Good Gawd Crabbok

"Your gaming company doesn't love you! They were nobodies. They aren't coming back for you, they aren't going to bring you anything! They left you behind, all alone, on this rock with nothing. They were drunks and they traded you off for more X-Wing/Legion players. You're not part of some grand story. Accept that... you know it to be true! Now get up, and join me. Together, we can start a new game." - Kylo Ren to an Armada Player, trying to get her to start playing Battlefleet Gothic: Armada 2 with him.
As an aside, when I was trying to come up with a different fleet game for Ren to try to be enticing the Armada player to, it occurred to me that table-top fleet games have not fared well, with pretty much everyone that I am aware of having a short run for just a few years (or less) before going belly-up. Battlefleet Gothic, Firestorm Armada, Halo: Fleet Battles, Starship Battles (WotC), Starfleet Battles, Dystopian Wars, and even Dropfleet Commander all seem to have gone under in pretty short time spans. At least Dropfleet Commander may get a second life under the new owners, but it's unclear what that will look like or if they'll just focus on Dropzone. Maybe the 'fleet game' is just not a sustainable type of tabletop experience? Maybe we should be thankful that FFG's quality ruleset and the Star Wars aesthetic kept Armada alive as long as it did.

Does. It's still alive. If you think it's dead, cool, later, thanks.
^^^
Still alive and has the biggest miniature in FFG's History in development right now.
News is slow, but there is hope. Rebellions are built on hope.
I think it is a matter of time for us and proof of longevity for the game. It will take time to get it there, but there is such a wealth of ships in that era to ignore or neglect.
Also, while BFG isn't being developed anymore on tabletop, it died when the old GW exec killed all of their Specialist Games. If the computer game's popularity is anything to go by, the IP is still popular, and given that GW is resuprecting many of their Specialist Games lines, we'll probably see it back in the next few years ![]()
But ya, we're still getting news, still getting new stuff, still getting things put back in stock (slowly), so it'd definitely not dead yet.
Plus, look at all the different fleet types people are developing now, and just wait to see all the new Imperial builds coming (I spent a lot of time this weekend building new lists based on the spoilers).
It is true, our numbers are falling and the game is not on the spotlight, but what are we doing about it?
as @Crabbok suggested a few weeks ago, how many of us actively recruited new players? I am sure if half of us had recruited at least one player this year, the growth rate would push FFG to get more waves into the game and even introduce different eras.
Anyway great song

OK, not to toot my own horn BUT I will, just a little. I have recruited new players, several actually and we had one of our biggest store championships in the area in a very long time. We then had a casual tournament, that was even bigger than that or Regionals earlier this year. I will be TO'ing a local Regional this year and I expect that to be bigger than all of those.
Here is a bit of the problem though, many of those players were able to get into the game by buying second hand lots... That does nothing for FFG sales. It just doesn't register. Sure some bought an expansion or two or three to round out their collection but that is mearly a blip on FFG's raidar. Sure I got some to buy new core sets but most were on sale (Barnes and Noble clearing out all their stock, Amazon on Black Friday) The Amazon sales I would say do register but the Barnes and Noble clearencing original release stuff, not so much.
Now many are waiting on Arquitens and it looks like they are getting back in stores now. I think, based off EBay research, many of those will fly off the shelves pretty quickly. That would be good for all of us.
The SSD is a tough one to measure though. Sure crazies like me will preorder them and get them day one but Rebel only players won't, those really on a budget won't, at least not right away. All I am saying is it is hard to predict sales for a $200 mini because the price isn't mini. How many does FFG have to sell to be happy? How many stores will not stock a $200 mini and only offer it as a special order? (For small independent stores many won't stock it and for those that do they will only stock 1 at a time).
The closest thing FFG has done to the SSD are X-Wing Epic ships and this is 2x that (or more).
I honestly don't know how the general game market will take to it (we are not the average market).
I have a guy I work with, two years younger than me (also, a corporal thus technically higher than me, but also technically the same rank... anyway) who I tried to get into the game. He loved my Mel's models for the Acclamator and Venator that I was painting for fun at work. But when I told him CW wasnt in yet, he mehhed out. We looked at the ships online; He isnt interested in building a rebel fleet, and doesnt want only various sized triangles... he might do what I am doing which is painting up rebel and imperial ships to be republic ones... but so far not bought in.
Another buddy is likely going to get into XWING when Clone Wars comes out, cause again, thats what we grew up with.
And like @Thrindal
said, I cant afford to get SSD right away. Im going to be waiting on it, not only to figure out where I am going after I get out in April, but also for money. I will likely get it for the upgrades too. I doubt I'll use it much except for giggles.
