Is Keyforge available as advertised?

By Reactor Terminal, in KeyForge

The ad on the site says it's available. Not here.... All sold out. How many of you have it available in your area?

My local store had sets about a week and a half ago but sold out since. You're going to be hard pressed to find them I'd imagine in local stores. You're best bet is to do some googling as there are stores selling some online that don't have them on back order.

Ive been to 5 different stores, and checked my 3 favorite online stores, amazon, miniature market and discount games and all are sold out of the starter box, but they have individual packs.

FFG's own webstore has the decks in stock (starter box sold out).

Weird that they didn't have enough starter boxes to get them through the biggest shopping day of the year in the US.

That said, generic tokens are cheap, and the decks are really all you need besides that.

I mean, I don't think I've ever seen FFG launch a game and not have stock issues at launch. Launching in November/December just makes it worse.

What I find especially interesting is how earlier folks were going on and on about how the starter boxes were such a horrible deal, and why would you ever buy one when you can just get 4 decks instead... and now you can't find a starter anywhere. All the FLGSs are sold out, and they're going for about $100 on Amazon right now.

I'm coming from Star Wars Armada. I haven't noticed any stock issues before, even when a wave is extremely popular.

Haha! Good point! I think the Starter Boxes are priced about right It costs the same as 4 decks. You DO get 4 decks, but only 2 of them are the unique ones. Then again, there are the rules, tokens, and power/stun cards. Seems about right to me, if you are using the cost of each deck as a measuring stick.

Ah, can't say I've played Armada. X-Wing had issues at launch, as did Netrunner, Destiny, and L5R. I was being a bit hyperbolic, but stock issues are at least not uncommon for FFG (apply more to launch than subsequent expansions).

The comic book store by me had at least one unopened box of decks last Thursday. Hard to imagine they are all gone now.

Less than retail at B&N.com if you’re a member, + free shipping. Every time I google KeyForge the top hits are always some random e-tailer selling starters near MSRP, followed by $200+ horsemen decks on the ‘bay. Suffice it to say the starters are still easily accessible.

Well I hear this from here and there, but locally there is decks to buy.

Problem is that quite a few People buys 25+ decks wich is Overkill IMO.

I can’t get to sleep. I think about the implications.

I don’t really understand buying 10-100 decks knowing you will never play more than a few of them, but to each his own I guess. It’s their money.

As opposed to buying hundreds and hundreds of cards to make one 60-card Magic deck? Or spending $50 for a single 2.5x3.5" piece of pretty cardboard?

Let’s not be disingenuous. Only casual gamers, limited format players (draft, sealed), and B&M shops crack packs. People who play constructed just buy singles.

I don't really get those things either. But as I said, each to his own.

I’m just boggling over the people trying to sell decks with multiple rares like that isn’t dirt common. 🤪

The big FLGS is our region sold out a week ago, got in 12 decks and a Starter (sold out again), and now has 36 decks available again. Last week, another store I play at has 36+ decks, and another had 2 Starters and 8 decks. Part of me wants it to sell out to signal to store owners that this is a big deal, and another part of me wants to buy all of the decks myself!

Yes. Which is why I said OR. I believe I covered both cases there. Or was this meant as a dig at "casual gamers"?

Not at all. The point was that people do buy packs, they just don’t buy hundreds of them in an attempt to build “one 60-card Magic deck.”

So has anyone seen or know of a reprint run for the starters?

My local brick and mortar still has like 8 or 10 decks left. If I wasn't so set on playing the decks I have, I'd buy more.
