Radus Liberty vs Dodonna Bombers?

By gothound, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Regionals is almost upon us! Help me decide between 2 builds and more importantly help critique them, they feel unrefined

Commander: General Dodonna

Assault Objective: Precision Strike
Defense Objective: Fighter Ambush
Navigation Objective: Minefields

400 pts

[ flagship ] MC80 Command Cruiser (106 points)
- General Dodonna ( 20 points)
- Independence ( 8 points)
- Engine Techs ( 8 points)
- Expanded Hangar Bay ( 5 points)
= 147 total ship cost

Hammerhead Torpedo Corvette (36 points)
= 36 total ship cost

Hammerhead Torpedo Corvette (36 points)
= 36 total ship cost

(Got the titles reversed on transports)

GR-75 Medium Transports (18 points)
- Bright Hope ( 2 points)
- Bomber Command Center ( 8 points)
= 28 total ship cost

GR-75 Medium Transports (18 points)
- Quantum Storm ( 1 points)
- Comms Net ( 2 points)
= 21 total ship cost

3 B-Wing Squadrons ( 42 points)
2 HWK-290s ( 24 points)
4 Y-Wing Squadrons ( 40 points)
2 YT-1300s ( 26 points)
= 132 total squadron cost

Indy launches the Bs and the YTs. The Hammerhead run mop up. I could put on external racks at the cost of a B -> Y conversion. Worried about losing the Indy and being pooched.

Radus Liberty

- Strategic Adviser ( 4 points)
- Caitken and Shollan ( 6 points)

- SW-7 Ion Batteries ( 5 points)
- External Racks ( 3 points)
= 158 total ship cost

- Mon Karren ( 8 points)
- Skilled First Officer ( 1 points)
- Gunnery Team ( 7 points)
- X17 Turbolasers ( 6 points)
- SW-7 Ion Batteries ( 5 points)
= 123 total ship cost

GR-75 Medium Transports (18 points)
- Comms Net ( 2 points)
= 20 total ship cost

GR-75 Medium Transports (18 points)
- Comms Net ( 2 points)
= 20 total ship cost

1 Shara Bey ( 17 points)
1 Tycho Celchu ( 16 points)
1 Rogue Squadron ( 14 points)
2 YT-2400s ( 32 points)
= 79 total squadron cost

My worry here is that the Aspie lacks the speed that other Raddus carries have. I got second at store champs with a different version of this list, I dropped some aces to give me offensive power on the Aspie.

For the first list, Jan > 2 HWKs in my opinion. Not giving Independence ECM could really bite you; combined with the absence of Yavaris to nuke things down, and there's a very real risk of being tabled or quickly crippled. I'd drop a Hammerhead just for upgrades to the cruiser. If it falls, your odds of a strong victory plummet. Boosted Comms is a good start to staying alive and still in command range. Even when you're slow, Superior Positions is good for points and deployment. Minefields doesn't really offer a consistently worthwhile advantage, a for Raddus could make your life miserable vs strategic. For the second list the Armored Cruiser doesn't have the blues to make SW-7s worth it compared to leading shots.

Good luck, hope this helps!

Thanks!! Might shy away from the Dodonna one. The only problem with leading shots is that Caiken and Sholan already reroll...unless.....can you reroll twice?

Yep, you can. Alternatively you can swap the twins for Boarding Troopers or a turbolaser like XI7s or QBTs.

Or there’s always ordnance experts...black dice do love rerolls. Leading shots plus QBT should have you covered for the red dice.

I’d consider dropping Rogue squadron (since you have odd squadron numbers) to get Engine Techs for MK. Handy for ramming flotillas twice, if nothing else.
