Star Wars episode IX

True. I’ve just got a feeling he will survive... kinda like a middle finger because he’s the only one that died in the old canon :P Chewie’s revenge!

He's the easiest to replace (as they have done) with a new actor, too.

Porgs to me, were needless.. Ewoks served a purpose, allowing the rebels to recruit actual natives to help in the fight. What exactly did the porgs do, other than 'doe eye chewie into not eating one??

Heh, my girlfriend thought they were cute and I tought they had some funny moments, and I'm pretty sure we're not the only one. So, they might have been useless storywise, but they still served a purpose (entertainement).

Yep. Harrison, Mark and Carrie were already old when the new trilogy started, it was pretty much a given that their characters would die during the movies. And yet, I think Disney did a wonderful job to give them proper sendoff. They are definetly amongs my favorites emotional Star Wars scenes.

They don't have this 'problem' with Chewie.

I'm also guessing that Rey will die with Kylo at the end. The Force brought her to balance Kylo, so I suspect that she needs to go away when Kylo dies. I hope she survive, but I expect her to die at the end. Same with Kylo to officially end the Skywalker saga.

I hope not. Rey's the main character. Main characters are supposed to live happily ever after.

...at least until a sequel comes along and reveals that there's some other, bigger problem for them.

Tell that to Jyn and Cassian... :P

Yeah, but that was explicitly a prequel. The end of that movie couldn't be a happy ending, because it wasn't a real ending but a setup for the Original Trilogy, which starts pretty dark.

Episode IX is supposed to be a real ending of a trilogy of trilogies. It needs a super-happy ending!

He's also the only one in the NOVELS to have died off, and we saw the backlash Salvatore got when he did kill off Chewie....

IMO that's all they were. To have a "Cuteness" aspect to the film...

I'll admit, that's about the point I lost all interest in the New Jedi Order books.

Thats when I got more into it actually... "holy crap, if they can kill off Chewie, ANY one could be next!" for me, it upped the stakes for the main characters, no one was "safe" anymore

Interesting how the exact same thought can trigger completely opposite reactions.

not saying it didnt take me like 3 hours to get through the moon part... between crying, and throwing the book to a wall... crying then going back to reading.... But Chewie went out like a boss. save your Best freinds kid, before an epic "come at me bro" roar to the incoming moon.

I know it's a long ways off but I'm hoping for Episodes X, XI, and XII. A trilogy of stories where Rey is the older Jedi master, re-forming the Jedi order with some new characters as the Jedi younglings.

Since Kylo and Leia are the only Skywalkers left, the fact that this next episode will be the end of the Skywalker saga doesn't mean it has to be the end of the story.

I don't think it absolutely needs a super-happy ending. And even if Rey was to die, it doesn't mean it would not be a good ending. I could see her sacrifice herself for the greater good to end the conflict (Like Neo sacrificed himself at the end of the Matrix trilogy), or for an even greater purpose (one of my theory is that Rey is an Avatar of the light side of the Force, a ray of light). Daisy Ridley also once said that she would just do the trilogy and then move on to other projects, that would solve this potencial problem.

But like I said earlier, I still hope she survive, it's just a theory of mine.

Honestly, the less this trilogy is like the Matrix trilogy (particularly the last two movies) the better, in my opinion.

True that they dropped the ball with the last two movie of the Matrix trilogy, but the first one was great!

I do look forward to flying my Tie FO’s, I have missed them, and I’m hopeful there will be something interesting from EP IX to pair with them.

Well, you get to look forward to the TIE/fo Interceptor. I just hope we see it in Episode 9 or the like so that it is released in a black and white paint scheme, it just feels like it would be a bit odd with the FO having all their ships black and white and then they have these bright neon red interceptors.

I can't remember where I read that, but yes. Episode 7 was the sendoff of Han Solo and 8 the sendoff of Luke Skywalker. Episode 9 should be the sendoff of Leia in a proper manner (I said should be because we don't know for sure if she'll die or not in Episode 9) and not just offscreen (considering the loss of our dear Princess Carrie Fisher).

As for Chewie, he might be the only one surviving, so I consider that a win for him.

We really need to have someone photoshop Chewie's head onto Thanos.

Fans: "Did you do it?" (Come back to life in the new canon?)

Chewie: 'Rararw' (Yes.)

Fans: "What did it cost?"

Chewie: Rawhlll..." (Everything....)

Actually, they were there for simplicity.

Skellig Michael (the island in question - it's just off the coast of Ireland) - has a massive (I mean really, really massive) Puffin colony.

Creating the 'Porgs' as a thing and adding 2-3 scenes with them in close-up was decided to be easier than digitally airbrushing 10,000 puffins out of the backdrop of every single shot. Instead they just left them in and overlaid a CGI 'porg' on any close enough to see what they actually were .

I think the 'alternate colour scheme' is a 'this person is a named ace of importantness' - like Phasma, Pyre or Cardinal's armour. I think they released (not in X-wing, of course) a Chrome TIE/sf for Phasma, too.

But yes, I'd like to see a 'standard' interceptor - but then I guess maybe the 'generic grunts' never get one?

I imagine the standard one would be the standard black and white and the red and black scheme is to make the character stand out, but FFG will likely release the ship at some point this year if not early next year, so I'd prefer it was in cohesion with the rest of the faction rather than being notably different. I wouldn't mind if they decided to go down the squadron pack idea for the fo so you could get the red variant in either a squadron pack or standalone pack while the standard version of the ship was in the other.

Indeed. The all-black of the silencer doesn't really match, but doesn't really clash either. Vonreg's Postbox-Red TIE-whatever-they-end-up-calling-it really does.

Ah yes thanks, I forgot I read that somewhere and thought it was a good idea to do it this way.

I loved the NJO series. Especially it's start. Seeing the Jedi get beaten upon, the new republic smacked around, like "The Candy &S@ jabronies they are", then slowly working and overcoming..

That it did, though some survived i wanted to get Ghannked, others got killed i would have liked to see live..

And that's what i've never understood about the 'nay sayers' . HIS Sacrifice was EPIC. Full on heroic. He died fulfilling his debt to Han and his kin. Yet some of the whiners over the years, just felt "he died too cheeply"..

They activate a temporal rift with places the space-time continuum in flux thus bringing them back to before the clone wars. Episode 1 and the Knights of the Old Republic.

:P
