Sato and MC30s???

By Fallenwolf15, in Star Wars: Armada

Anyone seen a 5 activation list with Sato and 2 Mc30s? Or any advice for a good Sato list?

Sure.

5 activation sato mc30s (382/400)
================================
MC30c Scout Frigate (69 + 65)
+ Commander Sato (32)
+ Lando Calrissian (4)
+ Ordnance Experts (4)
+ Assault Concussion Missiles (7)
+ Enhanced Armament (10)
+ Admonition (8)
MC30c Scout Frigate (69 + 36)
+ Ordnance Experts (4)
+ Early Warning System (7)
+ Assault Concussion Missiles (7)
+ Enhanced Armament (10)
+ Foresight (8)
Hammerhead Torpedo Corvette (36 + 14)
+ Ordnance Experts (4)
+ Disposable Capacitors (3)
+ Assault Concussion Missiles (7)
GR-75 Medium Transports (18)
GR-75 Medium Transports (18)
Tycho Celchu (16)
2 x VCX-100 Freighter (2 x 15)
A-wing Squadron (11)

That said, hammerhead spam or mc75ords or a combo thereof are usually the best sato bets.

Yep... What you looking to do with Sato though??? Myself I've been converting dice to blacks to pull off as big of a wide area barrage (WAB) as possible... And results have been fairly hilarious... Nothing like knocking off a fresh flotilla or a scatter ace for free especially for doing something I was planning to do anyways (I.e. Shoot your ships)

I suppose the other thing you could do would be just to increase your chances of some other crit effect... That's not bad. Or trigger black crits from long range, but too much seems to foil that plan now a days(evades, Brunson)

Don't mind that this list is not legal any more...

:) well just remove one gr75 and it meets all the criteria

Yeah trying to go for those black dice. Maybe fish for an accuracy with blue if needed.

What about a gr 75 foot squadrons with boosted coms. Is it necessary? Also with the above list is that enought squads? No Jan?

Sato does not love full squadrons, as you want his ability triggering as many ordnance crits as possible, and full squads eats into your ship count.

You just need enough squadrons to reliably survive and spot for the ship shots. With a small/med squadron wing that will affect how you fly the ships...against a superior squadron ball I keep my squadrons (mostly A-wings) out of the way and feed them into the mix a bit at a time to extend their longevity. Against lighter squadron comps you can be more aggressive with squadron maneuvering....

Dont expect your squadrons to win the squadron game. You win the squadron game by killing ships and tabling your opponent.

I've run 2 Sato MC30s plus 2 flotillas and 1 other small ship at a couple of different events, and it has worked fairly well (pre most recent wave). The MC30s are very hard to kill but can really be scary to small ships (I've one shotted an Arq from a side arc before). The small ship could be a hammerhead, a CR90 like Jaina's light (probably try to add dual turbolasers), or Salvation. Salvation seems great with Sato but the lack of rerolls is a real downside.

I think 5 activation would be a little harder now that strategic advisor is up. If I tried it again, I would probably look at a 6 activation with 2 hammerheads with OE/ACM/disposable capacitors + TF Organa for more rerolls. It's hard to fit in the MC30s as you would like them with much of a squadron wing though.

Maybe something like this, downgrading one to a torpedo (still can turn blues to blacks) and subbing Shara for a VCX as desired:

MC30c Scout Frigate (69)
• Skilled First Officer (1)
• Ordnance Experts (4)
• Assault Concussion Missiles (7)
= 81 Points

Hammerhead Torpedo Corvette (36)
• Ordnance Experts (4)
• Disposable Capacitors (3)
• Assault Concussion Missiles (7)
• Task Force Organa (1)
= 51 Points

Hammerhead Torpedo Corvette (36)
• Ordnance Experts (4)
• Disposable Capacitors (3)
• Assault Concussion Missiles (7)
• Task Force Organa (1)
= 51 Points

GR-75 Medium Transports (18)
• Comms Net (2)
= 20 Points

GR-75 Medium Transports (18)
= 18 Points

MC30c Torpedo Frigate (63)
• Commander Sato (32)
• Lando Carissian (4)
• Ordnance Experts (4)
• Assault Concussion Missiles (7)
• Admonition (8)
= 118 Points

Squadrons:
• Tycho Celchu (16)
• VCX-100 Freighter (15)
• A-wing Squadron (11)
• Shara Bey (17)
= 59 Points

Total Points: 398

You would need to use the squads to really get some burst damage in and burn down some targets with ACM crits at long range.

Oh, I love the look on your opponent's face when the barrage you just thew pops the flotilla or Dengar sitting nearby. Usually surprised then amused.

One game it burned down the remaining 4 hull from an ISD. Hilarious!

That said, I've only run a single copy on an MC75. I really need to try abusing it in an MC30 list now that you've given me the inspiration.

Here's my quick effort (which also meets OP's criteria). I'm still not sure of the maths on the best defensive solution for a '30 outside of Admo.

333TT WAB Abuse. (379/400)
=========================
MC30c Torpedo Frigate (63 + 50)
+ Commander Sato (32)
+ Lando Calrissian (4)
+ Ordnance Experts (4)
+ Wide-Area Barrage (2)
+ Admonition (8)
MC30c Torpedo Frigate (63 + 15)
+ Skilled First Officer (1)
+ Ordnance Experts (4)
+ Wide-Area Barrage (2)
+ Foresight (8)
MC30c Torpedo Frigate (63 + 13)
+ Major Derlin (7)
+ Ordnance Experts (4)
+ Wide-Area Barrage (2)
GR-75 Medium Transports (18 + 2)
+ Comms Net (2)
GR-75 Medium Transports (18 + 2)
+ Comms Net (2)
Han Solo (26)
Tycho Celchu (16)
2 x VCX-100 Freighter (2 x 15)

I've found that Sato squad ball to be really effective during games with a different ship build.

The VCX are for sheer volume of hull to chew through, for opportunistic relay and for strategic shananigans with objectives.

Normally the opponent can ignore VCXs as they're heavy, but all you need to do is throw one into prime position to trigger Sato and leave it there. The opponent has the choice of ignoring it, and suffering Sato dice, or spending a lot of resources concentrating it down.

Between the 4 squads, it's 27 squad hull, with defence tokens.

My 75,H,H,H build has some horrible strategic objectives that meant I was happy to play first or second.

Plus I played a tournament game where I lost almost all of my ships, but won 7-4, despite not killing a single of my opponent's ships, as I abused my opponent's fire lanes taking 16 of the 18 tokens by constantly throwing them under his ships. Dirty, dirty victory! :D
