$30 for an Arc-170 seem crazy to anyone else?

Re: actual topic of the ARC

I think the only reason we think it’s crazy is we are accustomed to them being $20 ships. Had they been thrown in the big $30 box like the Silencer was, nobody would care. It’s the expectations of 1.0 and the reality of 2.0 meeting, and not being identical.

Yes, the game has gotten more expensive per blister. The models have mostly gotten better too - especially the old wave 1 1.0 models vs the 2.0 counterparts.

How much is cost of better models, cost of shipping here, etc is not really up to my level of knowledge. FFG has said this is how it’s going to be (small/med/large at 20/30/40) so that’s how it’s going to be. My choices are to make a purchase under those terms or to not make a purchase.

For my own personal cost/benefit reasons, I won’t be buying CIS and I am debating if I will be buying Republic or not. This was before the ARC was $30.

I think a lot has to do with the size of the increase. A 50% boost in one shot is shocking. Nobody, or very few would do the P & M shuffle if this had been incremental.

Fair, although the writing was on the wall when the Firespray medium base was $30. Ffg likes to price based on the size of the box, so we could have concluded “ah it’ll be in this box ergo we can expect”. Maybe I just assumed that’s what they’d be doing so I’m less stunned by it?

I come from a 40k background (and still buy/paint 40k stuff, even if I don't play) so the price increase for me is not unexpected or even unfair in my view. The 2.0 remodeled ships look better than the older ones for the most part, and X-wing is still pretty much the cheapest mini game on the block to get into and compete competitively. FFG made a lot of changes with 2.0, for the better for the most part, and paying 5-10 bucks more for a ships expansion isn't something I'm going to quibble about, especially if they continue to put out a quality game.

Browsing the Armada expansions forever turned me off of complaints about X-wing prices.

yeah I run a small manufacturing business and use ABS plastics and all sorts of stuff. Nobodies costs went up that bad outside alluminum and some other metals. in fact the resins I use have seen no change whatsoever

I fully understand inflation, tariffs, etc, but theres virtually no reason why a product of this type should see a $10 increase on a $20 pricetag. thats a 50% increase

seperately, while some of the models are more detailed or better painted, others are worse.

The new Firesprays have bleed-out in the black cockpit that should have been quality controlled out, the new Fangs look like the used a gloss primer for the color, and the new Y-wings look like micromachines. the X-wings look great, as does Landos Falcon, but Im not seeing this jump in quality... in fact quite the opposite

The real cost of the products is the intellectual work; card text, testing, updating the app, and hopefully play testing. Let's hope the improved quality is in gameplay

updating the app

I know it is "functional", but I honestly spaced they had to pay for that tinsel wrapped load of manure to be made and probably having to fork over more to get it fixed/maintained.

See - a right winger and a socialist like myself can both agree - we hate the app. I just wish a non patriarchal collective could run and operate a community developed squad builder that allowed everyone equal access no matter their socio economic status :)

Ah, but the Free Market has already done this for you - have you met YASB 2.0?

There's this thing called inflation.....

I am sorry but I can not accept facts that do not agree with my ideology

Beyond that, we just have to pay for our internet/data connections. YASB 2.0 (and its predecessor) was done entirely voluntarily, without compulsion, and without requiring compensation. Raithos and his predecessor are quite charitable with what they have presented us for use. :)

And there are people severely overestimating its impact. 0.92 USD between 1.0 ARC and now.

Just like the Premium High Fidelity Chinese Printed Cardboard Turbo GTX believers who think the price of materials, cheap plastic and cardboard, have any impact on X-wing prices. It's mostly designers' and playtesters' wages, marketing and profit for the company. Nothing wrong with that, but I wish Corporate Defence Force stopped pulling excuses out of their asses every time anyone suggests FFG is not the second coming of Christ.

I think you have a valid point though. Small ship 20, medium 30, large/squad/coreset 40. It’s just the jump from small base to medium base and the associated cost increase that throws people off. I would suspect that the K-wing and Tie punisher will be 30 each on re-release, but will get the medium base ship treatment.

Hiemfire just says toxic crap sometimes. Wouldnt worry too much about it. Those of you outside the U.S. may be unaware, but in the States the rise of faschist conservatism has pretty much been a deathblow to civility. People in general (but particularly young republicans) just go straight to personal attacks and idiotic off topic garbage. pretty sad state really

I think you actually made it a bit unnecessarily personal there.

But seriously. This is a kinda premium product considering. And still cheaper than most miniature games. I like the look of the 40$ boxed starters for the Republic/Separatists (Minus the essential stuff for playing unfortunately. I wish they did faction starter boxes for X-wing and armada both.) with 3 models and a whole bunch of other stuff.
