If they had the correct Raider, I would be all-in, but they kept the Viper looking right and ditched the Raider for some stupid Geiger rip-off nonsense. Keep your crap!

This was far better:

Yeah the Cylons got changed quite a bit, but then again so did the whole tone of BSG into a very dark and melancholic setting. The Basestar is an example of the early oval shaped cylon ships that got changed completely.

Granted we are dealing with 12 planets each with the population of earth getting annihilated. However they didn't have human look alike cylons. It is funny we didn't see anymore of this gem in the new series.

I like to think that they changed the Cylon IL (Imperius Leader) series like Lucifer into the human forms. Saves on the makeup and prosthetics budget. I just think we should have seen the centurions more. Yeah, they were there, but never as prominently or as numerously as they should have been.

Of course, some decent scripts and/or 1 or 2 likeable characters would have been nice as well.

Well, still it was no where near as bad as 1980 BSG.

Also all the classic BSSG space battles are on a single shot reel. They shot the models for the pilot and just reused the shots for both classic series.

They were still great scenes

I will pick up the game if Battlestars/Basestars are added. ;)

There was no BSG in 1980, just the 1979 season.

Nope, nothing more was done after the first season, la la la la la

Oh yeah, the show was famous for using stock footage. At the time it was the most expensive TV show ever, One million per episode, they had to do everything they could to save money.

They are supposed to be. No idea how Ares intends to do that though, but they have said repeatedly that they are.

Somewhat more on topic, just ordered the core set for the game. I doubt I will actually ever play it, but I've always wanted some decent BSG toys.

They’ll just call the 1980 one a prequel and ignore all the continuity errors that would bring up.

If you caught the webisode for Blood and Chrome you got to see both old school Cylon raiders and centurions.

Great, I always been an advocate for Star Destroyers in X-wing Epic ;)

Do you got a link?

It's a wiki site for now, but it used to be on Youtube as a webisode, iirc 6 sections, 12 min each one.

So there is no way to watch the video is there? :(

Not sure if it's still on Youtube, but it IS available on Disk. Check your local library..

You can buy or rent it on Youtube, Amazon, iTunes or Google Play. There don't seem to be any free ways or ways on existing unlimited streaming services (Netflix/Hulu/etc).

Isn't the suggestion that this is actually true?

That the 70s series was just the previous 'cycle' of machines vs man (prior to the cycle on the original Earth in the remake)?

Yea. I meant in a more literal sense. Like it all happened 40 years ago.

I liked the BSG 1980, with those bikes.. BUT the acting was even more sub-par than expected, the graphics/effects crummy.. Though i did get a laugh when that one cylon raider crashed, and the human form and Centurion had to blend in, going to a haloween party.

I think somebody did the math once, and even at the same scale as the Tantive IV (as opposed to the scale for the small ships), an Imperial-class Star Destroyer would be seven feet long.

Also, hard pass on Battlestar Galactica until I get original Cylon Raiders and an alternate art Dirk Benedict Starbuck.

Just Like the Tantive IV is it were at the same scale as the X-wing model? You would scale it down, it will still be considerably larger than the CR-90, it just won't fit the CR-90 in the docking bay, and guess what, neither did Armada CR-90 fit in the Armada Imperial star Destroyer. But if scale is such a thing, maybe it could be the same scale as the Armada CR-90. There you got large models for detail and smaller models for scope.

I dunno, at what point does a Star Destroyer lose its majesty by being shrunken down to a tabletop size?

Different strokes for different folks, but I feel like the only way to incorporate a Star Destroyer would be to scale up the templates so the fighters flew further, and had longer ranges. At Star Destroyer scale, the range sticks will look pretty pitiful indeed, lol.

Maybe we could start with a smaller cap ship, like the Carrack Light cruiser, or Lonar strike cruiser, or even the victory Star destroyer..

Well at least there is a way to buy it still. Can't say that for most games though :(

There is also the case of which version of the Star Wars OT do you prefer.

But yeah back to Battle Star Galatica. Hey did FFG lose the license for the Board game?

Yes, I believe so. Quite some time ago, actually.

The Cylon CGI was pretty ropey at times. And when they brought the Mark I Centurions in CGI back (Razor, I think), they looked pretty ropey too.

I liked the original Centurion chrome armour, and the original Raider design myself. Just nitpicks and preference really though, I'll almost always favour practical effects over full CGI (I think the MCU us probably the exception to the rule)

You guys should check out Battlestar Galactica: Deadlock.

It's very good.

If it wasn't a Steam required game, i just might.
