As you can read, I'm the proud owner of a DLP printer and the first models I printed where two A-Wings: A-Wing Prototype and A-Wing RZ-1
To start, the 3D printed models
After primer, I put on a base coat of a light gray
And then it was time to start filling in the details. The prototype now has got the basic colours and markings. The RZ-1 will follow shortly.
And these are the two classic paint schemes I would like to recreate:

Edited by NoosartToday I finished up the prototype. I must say that I'm quite pleased with the end result. It won't won any prizes, but will do nice on the table.

These A-Wings took about 2,5 hours. Printing time is calculated differently than with a FDM printer. Because it doesn't need to lay down material.
The uv display cures the whole layer at ones. So 1 or 5 ships take the same amount of time.
Only the height of the model determines the printing time. Each layer needs to cure for around 8 seconds.

Thats much better looking and fine than many other printed ships i've seen!
And so the second A-Wing also got finished.
I do like the prototype a bit more, but that's mostly because it has just a bit more color... And also the more slender cockpit design.
Anyway, these can be put on the gaming table next time and try outmanouvring my TIE Interceptors

I also own a SLA printer and use it for 1/123000 scale capital ships.
What surprises me is the rifling on the nose. Thats a bit strange. Maybe slanting the ship for the next print could prevent that.

I think it is because of how the 3d image is rendered. The rest of the model isn't showing the layering.
have you figured out how much the printing "costs"?
Actually... no 😅
It holds like a table spoon of resin and the resin is expensive but since it's so little it still is cheap.
But there is quite some work in cleaning everything, curing the model under uv and the occasional misprint.
From your video and print examples, it is VERY tempting to get one.
How do these look next to the FFG models? These are lovely btw, good work!
