MS -1 Ion cannons are the ones that exhaust an upgrade card - aka I turn your admiral off, and you don't get to do ANYTHING with him.

Unless they have an Interdictor title handy.

But seriously, I'd like MS-1s to not be 100% completely useless in certain situations, for a generally unpredictable benefit. Much as I like chaos, that's what it would take for me to bring them.

You are thinking of Ion Cannon Batteries.

sorry, your right. Leading Shots Strikes again!

MS-1 is cheap enough and has enough moderately useful stuff I felt like it was always just 1 really good exhaust ability away from being usable. A CR90b or Raider 2 with MS1 is a good Piett ISD insurance policy, and is also good for shutting down ECM's, forcing inopportune Brunsons, Heavy Ion Emplacements, etc etc.

And yes, an interdictor can use it to flip him active again, but 1)he used his title for that and 2) If they are bringing the interdictor title for Piett then their plan hinged on using Piett on 2 ships and I prevented that so it's still a win

Piett - "Let's make MS-1 Ion Cannons good agai..... I mean.... for the first time ever since they came out!"

Eh, MS-1 was okay when it came out ...as most people read it the way it is obvious to read it. I don't think it turned useless until the FAQ update clarified 'exhaust' has no effect on upgrades that don't say 'exhaust to use'.

Which is indeed, the correct way to have read it. There were too many "sudden Motti Explosions" over a single crit to let it go any other way :)

Not to mention that there is nothing in the rules that ever stated an exhausted card does nothing. Simply that an exhausted card cannot be exhausted again, which means you can't trigger any ability that is "exhaust to use".

Yeah, well, FAQ Motti. It never made any thematic sense what he was doing, anyway .

" During deployment , increase the hull value of each friendly ship according to its size class..."

😜

which open other problems like:

1. Does it last only until deployment is done? Crap !

2. If not, then it does until the end of the game regardless what happen to Motti after deployment. Even better than he already is !
