Raddus Bomb officer help

By itzSteve, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

I have been playing around with a Raddus list, but I am having problems making a final decision on the officer slot for the MC75. I put SAd on it by default, but I am wondering if DCO, Walex, Lando, or IO would be a better choice. If I have 6 activations, do I REALLY need SAd? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated...THANKS!

Lando. Nothing is worse than getting one shotted by BTA without ever activating because you don't have Aspiration or other adequate defensive tech. Also, SAd is more useful during the early-mid game where you're trying to out wait your opponent and force them into range first so you can shoot/arc dodge. With Raddus you don't get that.

On another note: Precision strike confuses me. Beyond the CR90s dealing facedown damage for later flipping, I fail to see synergy. Larges won't like the crits, but they'll get just as many points doing it right back, and against the little ships they'll often have extra hits anyway. Bomber and APT fleets will love it. Most Wanted is consistently good, and in the mirror match you probably want to go second anyway so you can see their drop and activate your drop first.

I have never had a BTA one shot my MC75, although I do see how the right Kuat build could get it. I agree with your SAd statement, which is why I am questioning it. Bomber, APT, and HIE fleets have me leaning towards DCO. Regarding Presicion Strike... when I drop my MC75 in and drop the hammerhead in, barring a horrible few rolls, very few ships will make it out alive in that activation. The HH changes all the dials with Cham and then unloads a double arc, ER, CF into it along with a final ram to get a face down. The MC75 tanks the first shot, and then has its own double arc into it after using boarding troopers. I will come out of that two ship activation with at least 3 PS tokens and usually a dead ISD. If it somehow manages to survive with a hull point or two, the CR90 is still there to farm more PS tokens and then ram it if need be ....your right! ๐Ÿ˜€

With an ISD 1 or 2 itโ€™s unlikely, but an exrax or even APT Kuat is entirely capable of getting 11 (ram to kill.)

If your rolls are statistically average, the ISD lives on 5 hull after all ramming, before CR90s. If the Hammerhead rams, the ISD will get a token from a side shot. Assuming you can trigger PS three times, you come out 30 points ahead and spare the ISD 3 more hull, versus the 110+ lead and dead ISD MW would offer. Even against an MSU, the flagship is worth more than that.

Thanks!...I completely agree!!!

::sigh:: all these people misusing the original term ๐Ÿ˜

Yup. No bomb here

Just to go through the other officers:

  • SA - you have 5 activations without the MC75, you don't need SA. Even if you did need it, it won't help you until the MC75 drops, and even once the MC75 drops you'll usually be wanting to activate that first, at which point the SA is useless.
  • DCO - I ran DCO for a while. Across maybe 9 games I got one use out of it, and that person had Fire Control Team anyway so I still took one crit. Special crits aren't that common at the moment.
  • Walex - might work; let's you burn through one of your tokens quickly.
  • IO - useful, but you already have Boarding Troopers and XI-7s. Adding in a third anti-defense-token upgrade seems a bit overkill.

So yes, Lando is probably the way to go.

Here's my 2 cents if u want :)

I assume the hammerhead is kept in the Profundity and will be your 1st ship to activate if you are 1st player. If so I recommend damage pushing over messing around with opponents dials. That also ensures your MC75 gets the kill, or more kills. It would also give the opponent more crits which imo is more hurtful than messing with dials. Try to have Garel's honour. Swap Cham for boarding engineers/troopers/OE. Swap out ashoka to another ship if u need her as the hh is not likely to last long.
