Krennic on a Cymoon is good choice.

I'm not sold on the SFO/Vader choke out strategy. It is gimmicky, one time use per officer, and while they are cheap it is still points that could go towards something else. So for me the jury is still out on choke outs.

Putting sfo on an hiedcap raider 2 or exracks raider 1 is a gimmicky but extremely useful way to get rerolls on the one "it better count" shot.

Other than that, its an attempt to make 1 time use officers like Titus that then just sit around and do nothing more useful. Tagge has been thrown out as a great admiral because his effect is over start of turn 5. Even thrawn after the dials are gone is a good candidate. Vader isnt just a janky reroll source, but he gives a secondary purpose to a lot of situational or single use officers.

Who knows, maybe he is even what makes Isard worth taking?

Tagge died getting choked on the Executor by Vader. Just saying...

Krennic, Vader and Grint+IF, each on a cymoon?

@ovinomanc3r Now Vader might not be the absolute best build anymore.

Now I finally read the stuff and watch the @Crabbok 's video.

Great stuff! It seems ffg don't want me to move on.

I’m increasingly worried that this expansion will be Armada’s equivalent to XWMG’s Raider. A hugely expensive expansion that is necessary to play a faction competitively. At least one commander and half the crew look like they will be Imperials staples. That isn’t good.

Im also getting more jaded that there isn’t anything for the Rebellion. Even half a Squadron pack with some more of the token-less, special-text-less aces. Getting absolutely nothing new for a faction for what will likely end up being 2 years because of this thing is, well, ****.

I feel the same just anything would be nice.

As I've said before, I would have preferred that they had produced a medium ship for Imperials that was semi decent. As it is I will buy the SSD but I'm not sure how many times it will be on the table. I don't think it would be too difficult to mob it and destroy it using more numerous but smaller rebel ships and bombers. Certainly if you use an SSD there doesn't seem to be much points left for anything else.

I think the analogy with the Raider for X Wing is very good. In my opinion that was the beginning of the end for X-Wing version 1. The idea of having Palpatine in a fighter dogfighting game was just ludicrous, in fact only slightly less ludicrous than Princess Leia floating through space like Mary Poppins and surviving!!! When the Raider came out you could see X Wing turning from a dog fighting game to a collectible card game. I'm hoping Armada doesn't go down this route although the way things are at the moment it would not surprise me if FFG called it a day after the SSD is released. Certainly of all their Star Wars games Armada seems to get the least attention.

While Palpatine was, the Raider was never legal in nor designed for standard tournament play.

That alone sets the SSD apart from it.

I mean, if they put the SSD out and call Armada complete, we can start fixing the activation mechanic with some house rules.

I honestly dont expect that. I think they are working in something else big as well. GCW is tapped, but we now have enough of TFA/TLJ material for new waves and the clone wars aren’t tapped out at all

The GCW isn't tapped there is still a lot of new EU stuff and old legends stuff to add.

But they can't add from there because the Mouse needs to approve everything. Note that the only EU ships are from waves 1 and 2.

I dont know about them getting a huge ship, but you're right they should be getting something soon. Maybe some sort if counter to help them deal Empire and they're "ha my **** is bigger!" Syndrome?

E wings, tie phantoms, decimators, Corran Horne, and Whisper are all from legends. More importantly many of the legends ships have been reintroduced back into the new EU.

Emperor Palp officer on the Raider that engages squadrons with Rudor... that would work and be rather sweaty right?

Those are existing squadrons from X-wing, which is likely why they've been included. The most plausible candidates for ships are the Dreadnought (one of those reintroduced ships that was actually shown on screen,) the Venator and the Braha'tok. Other such as the Secutor and Carrack are CINO with only 1-2 appearances by an author trying to squeeze them into the universe, and as such are highly unlikely to warrant a release.

Edit: E-wings and Decimators are also canon.

If I remember correctly, Rudor doesn't force an attack on Instigator. Squadrons within distance 1 of Instigator are treated as if they are engaged, but Rudor's ability requires that they actually be engaged by another squadron. But... it still could be a nice combo to help delay and weaken squads.

Fair enough, didn't know that about Rudor as a rebel that's handy.. Still even Instigator (thank you) and Palp alone would be interesting

I know decimators are in that star wars clash of clans knock off. Did not know e wings are back

Barely. They had a cameo in Dameron , so it's not like they're all over posters or something either; they were a weird choice too. It's not that I don't want Empire at War et al. stuff, it's that we've been given signs they've moved away from that.

The only empire at war stuff we don't have is the acclamator, the tie scouts (not sure what they would do maybe another strategic platform), and the zhan consortium stuff (which I am fine with)

what about the Tartan patrol cruiser, broadside cruiser, IPV-1 Patrol craft, Corellian gunship, Marauder Cruiser?

The broadside cruiser is the gladiator star destroyer the IPV was I thought a zhan unit but I did forget the rest (although to be honest I forgot the corellian gunship was in the game outside of mods)

I didn't know that was the Gladiator. The IPV could make a good neutral ship that both sides could use.

I didn't either until a few months ago and was looking up missile ships for an auxiliaries support taskforce I was creating. A broadside just a gladiator that replaces the hanger bays with ammo bays

Good bye Wallet

While there has been plenty of EU stuff in the past (the VSD for starters) there hasn't been anything non-Disney canon since Wave 5, and no non-Disney ships since Wave 2 (the MC30 being based off RotJ concept art, and the Raider being original). That might not be a pattern, but it doesn't look good for non-Disney-canon things.

There's still the dreadnaught (or Imperial Support Vessel), the Corellian Gunship/DP20, the Starhawk, and probably a few other things. So room for some more stuff.

Plus the fairly strong hints about Clone Wars stuff. TFA/TLJ stuff might be difficult due to scale problems and the lack of ships.
