SSD Spoilers, from reddit

By BillHimclaw, in Star Wars: Armada

You can never equip more than 1 modification.

I'm so gonna make an SSD fleet with Piett as an admiral, Vader and Ozzel as officers, and after turn 1 I'm gonna choke Ozzel. I love being thematic :D

Here are all the upgrades spoiled on @Crabbok ‘s channel.

Overall they look to be low point cost cards

Titles:

Executor: you can be assigned any number of any type of command tokens (2pts)

Eclipse: when a ship overlaps they suffer faceup damage (3pts)

Ravager: your concentrate fire tokens can add dice to the pool like dials (4pts)

Annihilator: you can reroll one dice when attacking a squadrons (8pts)

Officers:

Krennic: when attacking at med-long range if you spent a conc. fire dial you may reroll any number of red dice. If you spent a token you may reroll up to 2 red dice (8pts)

Lira Wessex: when you are dealt a faceup damage card you may spend an engineering token to flip it facedown without suffering any effects (2pts)

Emperor Palpatine: When an enemy ship or squadron declares you as the target of an attack it must spend 1 defense token if able (3pts)

Commander Gherant: When defending, the attacker can’t resolve critical effects. After you attack a ship discard this card (2pts)

Ozzel and Vader are already spoiled.

Since we're on a roll - these are the new rules for SSD:

  • It's HUGE, which is distinct from large/medium/small
  • It has 6 hull zones; the new ones are the rearmost arcs, called "auxiliary" arcs. So they are NOT side arcs, so say EA won't have any effect on them.
  • It can pass once per round.
  • Huge ships must be in the setup area - but can extend outside the deployment zone, as long as they touch the back end (like Large X-wing ships).
    • It can't deploy overlapping obstacles.
    • Squads can't go beyond distance 1-2 of a deployment zone, even if the SSD sticks further out.
  • When revealing a dial, it gets a matching token.
  • It can shoot 3 times.
  • You move from the REAR base.
  • Half points (upgrades included): if it takes at lest half its hull value in damage (unlike X-wing shields are irrelevant).

Fun aside: the Annihilator and Ravager art are from the same picture . Carefully cropped so there isn't much overlap, and they've edited out the Rebel logo and the rest of the Republic fleet from the back of the Ravager image (which is the Republic-controlled Lusankya).

Just out of curiosity how can you tell it is CYMK or not?

Dropped it into Photoshop RGB & CYMK and selected a color. Because of my prior Kodak NexPress experience for the Army, I have a few extra settings toggled on and I also know that when you color select with the full color selection menu up, if there is a alert icon next to one of the small squares, that means the press couldnt print it. In RGB you get the alert on multiple locations of various pages, on CYMK you only get one, but two other locations of a same color didnt. Could have been lighting that caused that initial fail.

Officer Vader: While a friendly ship at distance 1-5 is attacking a ship, it may discard 1 of its COMMANDER or OFFICER cards (other than Darth Vader) to reroll any number of dice in its attack pool (1pt)

”Be Careful Not to Choke on your Aspirations . . . Emperor Palpatine.”

- Darth Vader

Annihilator + Kallus + QLT = goodbye quads.

But you cant on have one Modification per ship. If you allow two then that opens it up for all kinds of abuse possibly. I hope this ship doesn't break the game as it was never designed around this sort of ship.

Well, the SSD has been in the pipe since wave 4. So they have had the opportunity to plan expansions with the knowledge of what they are working on since then.

Where did you get the rules from? Particularly the half points if its half damaged rule?

Oh im sure they thought of it even before they started planning it around wave 4.

Krennic, Vader and Grint+IF, each on a cymoon?

@ovinomanc3r Now Vader might not be the absolute best build anymore.

On a side note, glad to have Krennic added to the mix. He's quite unique too only working at med-long range.

Article, rumors, educated guesswork?

It can be deployed overlapping obstacles though.

@Green Knight , if you could tell me what's guesswork and what isn't, I'd like to clarity that on the first post.

Same for @BrobaFett , since you two have a disagreement on the obstacle deployment thi ng...

Thanks guys.

Huge size, 6 hull zones, pass once per turn, and free token after revealing a dial are all confirmed details from the original announcement article.

Im sitting over here thinking of which officers I can pair with Tarkin, and just... ahhhh... its going to be nice.

Thanks to @Crabbok for the video coverage, otherwise I wouldn't have found out.

There is one objective (fleet ambush) that specifically prevents deployment on obstacles. In every other instance this is allowable (raddus deployment for instance is a great example of this in effect, as is obstacles in the deployment area while playing minefields.)

Krennic is an obvious choice to go with Tarkin. I have already been thinking about an Arquitens with Enhanced Armament, Krennic and Tarkin.

Tarkin, Sovereign / Krennic Cymoon?

Vader plus SFOs on Arqs for rerolls?

Edited by svelok

I’m increasingly worried that this expansion will be Armada’s equivalent to XWMG’s Raider. A hugely expensive expansion that is necessary to play a faction competitively. At least one commander and half the crew look like they will be Imperials staples. That isn’t good.

Im also getting more jaded that there isn’t anything for the Rebellion. Even half a Squadron pack with some more of the token-less, special-text-less aces. Getting absolutely nothing new for a faction for what will likely end up being 2 years because of this thing is, well, ****.

Krennic on a Cymoon is good choice.

I'm not sold on the SFO/Vader choke out strategy. It is gimmicky, one time use per officer, and while they are cheap it is still points that could go towards something else. So for me the jury is still out on choke outs.
