That right there is where our opinions differ: I don’t consider there to be any default in this situation. Regardless, this is all harmless speculation; there are those who think Jerry won’t work, those who think Bulkheads/SAd/Motti will, and countless other theories. We’ll see eventually. :)

Ah, see I think this is an important point. It is the default because it is what the current rules say. Under the current rules the SSD would be a Large ship. Given that, I think it is reasonable to take it working the same as a Large ship as a starting point. So we'd want to justify (or think for reasons) why it wouldn't. So with Motti, we'd want to think of reasons why he might give more hull, or no hull. For Jerry, we'd want to think of reasons why he wouldn't work. For Bulkheads/SAs we'd want to think of reasons why they wouldn't be extended to Huge ships. For DCs we'd be looking for reasons why they would work for a Huge ship.

But yes. At the moment we're just speculating. Which is why when I set out that proposed SSD list I noted the assumptions I was making.

A large ship has a specific base size, which the SSD does not have.

It isn't a large ship.

Not quite what the rules say. The rules say "large ships use the 77.5mm x 129mm base." From what we've seen the SSD does use the 77.5mm x 129mm base - it uses two of them. So it can be a large ship. It doesn't use either of the other bases, so can't be a medium or small ship. It must be a small, medium or large ship as those are (currently) the only options. Hence a large ship.

Except we have been explicitly told this is something new. So the default (in my opinion) goes out the window. It's like if somebody stuck a hood ornament on a horse and then told you it wasn't a car. You could treat it like a car, but it won't behave the same way, they made a point of telling you as much, and there's only the barest hint of a car there anyway. Why make the assumption?

I'm not making assumptions, I'm taking it as a starting point. And no, it isn't like putting a hood ornament on a horse and telling us it isn't a car. It's like taking something that would be a car, changing a few things, and telling us it isn't a car any more. Sure, it isn't a car. But it isn't unreasonable to suppose that it might be a bit car-like.

Edit: Or even better, it's like being shown something that we would have called a car. But we're told actually, no, this isn't a car, and here are some specific ways it is different from a car. It isn't unreasonable to suspect it might be the same as a car in most - if not all - other ways.

I'm hyped.

Only bummer, I was hoping Admiral Piett would do something to boost front arcs. Or at the very least be a solid admiral I could feel happy about taking w/ a variety of fleets. He's my favorite minor character in SW. Kind of a bummer for him to only really seem to fit with the SSD. Can't see any reason to take him over someone like Thrawn for any other fleet builds.

Thrawn 2-ship becomes Piett 2-ship?

Yes, but the old cards existed in a world where Huge didn't exist. SO while they could FAQ every card that referenced size, they could instead just include it in the huge ship rule. That might just be that the cards don't work, but that would suck for Motti especially.

Does an SSD need Motti? Or hardened bulkheads? I’d rather they didn’t do this, and just brought out some huge only cards to compensate.

Here are all the upgrades spoiled on @Crabbok ‘s channel.

Overall they look to be low point cost cards

Titles:

Executor: you can be assigned any number of any type of command tokens (2pts)

Eclipse: when a ship overlaps they suffer faceup damage (3pts)

Ravager: your concentrate fire tokens can add dice to the pool like dials (4pts)

Annihilator: you can reroll one dice when attacking a squadrons (8pts)

Officers:

Krennic: when attacking at med-long range if you spent a conc. fire dial you may reroll any number of red dice. If you spent a token you may reroll up to 2 red dice (8pts)

Lira Wessex: when you are dealt a faceup damage card you may spend an engineering token to flip it facedown without suffering any effects (2pts)

Emperor Palpatine: When an enemy ship or squadron declares you as the target of an attack it must spend 1 defense token if able (3pts)

Commander Gherant: When defending, the attacker can’t resolve critical effects. After you attack a ship discard this card (2pts)

Ozzel and Vader are already spoiled.

color pallete seems to by CYMK

Just out of curiosity how can you tell it is CYMK or not?

ouch! those officers will have a huge impact on meta if not locked to SSD

Gherant as an anti-alpha strike, palp as a shield against generic bombers (no defense token, no attacks), Lira blocking APT, krennic cluster reroll the reds...

Palp though with Sloan? Also as a TRC counter, especially with Sloan, or just the attack dice they put out. Annihilator and Quad Lasers (especially with Kallus as well....)

I stand corrected.

still very good nevertheless

I'm just excited for Armada news and can't wait to play with this ship!

Jeez. More red reroll goodness for the Empire. This is really going to put more pain on Rebel MSU builds.

$400. There is no way I don't own two of them!

Boo hoo. Maybe we might finally see the Imperials win world's. I ******* hate those Rebel MSU's so the harder it is for them the better.

We Imperial players suffered at the hands of toilet-bowling-flying-ackbar-red-dice-adding-MC80's for far too long. When im second player and i go up against someone who deploys sideways i go speed 0 and take my 5 point win.

Paint one as the Reaper the other as the Rebel Lusankya and pit them against each other!

Hehe. I suppose we both see it through the lens of our own experiences!

I dont know if this has been asked but if someone puts an upgrade like enhanced armament on it will it add a red die to all four side arc's. If so should those sort of upgrades cost more as they were designed around a four arc ship and not six?

Maybe you need 2. One for the front sides one for the back sides

My but: the new arcs have new names, so EA etc have only effect on the one part of the side arc.

But you cant on have one Modification per ship. If you allow two then that opens it up for all kinds of abuse possibly. I hope this ship doesn't break the game as it was never designed around this sort of ship.
