SSD Spoilers, from reddit

By BillHimclaw, in Star Wars: Armada

I was surfing the Armada subreddit and came cross this:

And my heart just skipped a couple beats.

Edit: I'm going to try and collect all gathered data on this post. Also, a Shoutout to @OgRib , who posted the news just a second after me. His post was better structured and had more Intel than mine, and yet, it wasn't given attention. Sorry I took your spotlight.

SSD teaser (shared by @LordCola 😞

New cards (shared by @LordCola , @Jabby and @Crabbok )

Lira Wessex: when you are dealt a faceup damage card you may spend an engineering token to flip it facedown without suffering any effects (2pts)

Emperor Palpatine: When an enemy ship or squadron declares you as the target of an attack it must spend 1 defense token if able (3pts)

Commander Gherant: When defending, the attacker can’t resolve critical effects. After you attack a ship discard this card (2pts)

Officer Ozzel: At the start of the first round, you may execute a speed 1 maneuver (2pts).

Commanders

Admiral Piett: When a friendly ship spends only a command token to resolve a command, you may exhaust this card. If you do, that ship resolves a command as if it had spent a dial of the same type instead (22pts).

New rules (shared by @Green Knight ) WARNING: Some of these might just be guesswork.

  • It's HUGE, which is distinct from large/medium/small
  • It has 6 hull zones; the new ones are the rearmost arcs, called "auxiliary" arcs. So they are NOT side arcs, so say EA won't have any effect on them.
  • It can pass once per round.
  • Huge ships must be in the setup area - but can extend outside the deployment zone, as long as they touch the back end (like Large X-wing ships).
    • It can't deploy overlapping obstacles.
    • Squads can't go beyond distance 1-2 of a deployment zone, even if the SSD sticks further out.
  • When revealing a dial, it gets a matching token.
  • It can shoot 3 times.
  • You move from the REAR base.
  • Half points (upgrades included): if it takes at lest half its hull value in damage (unlike X-wing shields are irrelevant).

I'll try to add images and sith as they come.

Edit 2: card images from reddit. Added guesswork warning for rules.

I DON'T KNOW!!!!

Well if it is kudos to the leaker. FFG cant be bothered to stop playing with their Legion and Xwing miniatures to publish an article for us.

Leaks like this can destroy IPs though. I'd be slow to praise this behavior.

All 4 command upgrades on one ship?! I love it!

Looks like this was FFGs doing, they sent this to people who pre purchased the SSD

It was a game store that goofed. Pretty bad either way though.

No, it was a ******** who photographed the pamphlet without the store owner knowing.

Ah. Then please don't reward this behavior. It isn't good for the long term.

Good that there is a Flight Controller card in the pack.

I'm liking the 250 point SSD Assault Prototype. 5 more attack over the 220 point ship. Double turbolaser for QBTs and XI7s. Double Ion slots for LS & HIEs used with screed at long range with the QBTs. Red flak dice and easily enough officer slots for Kallus & Tua.

At this time its unclear if Tua will work on Huge ships.

Not the the post title on reddit is:

This appears to be a real preview item sent to stores specifically to get players and store owners hyped. Only a moron would send this out to members of the public without fully expecting it to be shared. Even the language used indicates this is a full product announcement.

Unless someone's created a very convincing fake, we were meant to see this.

You mean the dial change buddies? Because running more than three is virtually useless anyway... (some would say any)

This pamphlet spoils all ship and upgrade cards.

Gods the artwork for the assault version would not have been my first choice...

The SSD expansion will come with 24 upgrade cards. 12 of the will be completely new cards:

Well you may mourn all you want, personally I like that we have news about the SSD.

I'm loving Vader and Ozzel but Piett is kind of meh. And holy cow those Executor front arcs can one-shot an ISD....

33 hulls, you need a lot of A-Wings to take her down,

For a 400 point ship you need at least 100 points of upgrades, 60-80 for squadrons ( standard ones), unless you want a single ship fleet, you need at least 800 points game for a proper fleet setup. I always assumed FFG would go up to 600 points, maybe still that is the case but it seems it can be much higher now.

I think this leak might force FFGs hand to release their next article early.

I pretty much doubt that. At this point there is no reason to release any article that would contain information that were leaked today. They can very well postpone these articles.

Then again, I bet they were expecting these leaks. They were sending out these pamphlet to God knows ho many places, they couldn't think that nobody would speak about them... Maybe those articles are not existent...

"can" Sure, "likely to" not really. But I agree it has a decent front arc...for 411 points.
