Before Fight

By Chris51261, in KeyForge

Hey all. So I’m just wondering if “before fight” works the same way as “fight”- where it only happens when you’re attacking with that character. I’d assume it does, I’m just a little confused from the wording on “before” in the rule book. Thanks!

Effectively you declare you’re fighting with a creature then resolve its before fight effect then resolve damage. Normally fight effects resolve after damage meaning if the creature dies the effect never happens.

Gotcha. And it works the same way as fight? It doesn’t go off when the creature is the one being attached, only while it’s attacking?

Yep

Regarding "Before Fight" mechanics. If an Elusive Sigil is in play, do before fight mechanics resolve?

Interesting question actually. The user guide only explicitly states that “fight” is resolved by the attacker only (under “fight” in glossary)

True, but much like fight or reap only trigger when the creature takes said action consistently I would think “before” in “before fight ” is merely a timing variation of the same rules.

We already have a meaningful split between "fight" and "fighting", let's hope "before fight" doesn't need its own special definition as well.

Actually, I think you’re right. Reading the “before” glossary entry, it seems to indicate it is such.
